What are the responsibilities and job description for the Physician Assistant - Cardiovascular Surgery position at Cheyenne Regional?
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with cardiovascular surgeons in pre-operative evaluations, surgical planning, and post-operative management.
- Provide direct patient care in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Perform pre-operative assessments, physical exams, and develop care plans for patients undergoing cardiac and vascular surgeries.
- Perform endoscopic vein harvesting and other cardiovascular surgical procedures and provide immediate post-operative care.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including lab work, imaging, and other relevant assessments.
- Participate in hospital rounds, surgical case discussions, and patient care meetings.
- Document and maintain accurate medical records in compliance with hospital policies.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in physician assistant studies or nursing, with an active NP or PA certification.
- Current, unrestricted license to practice in the state of Wyoming (or ability to obtain).
- Board certification as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA).
- Prior experience in cardiovascular surgery or critical care required.
- Strong clinical knowledge of cardiovascular conditions, surgical interventions, and post-operative care.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
