A Day in the Life of a Specialty Certification Coordinator:

The Specialty Certification Coordinator position provides clinical expertise and education, guided by clinical practice guidelines, ensuring integration, standardization, and continuity in specialty care for patients across the continuum beginning in the community through to admission and continued after discharge.

 Here Is What You Will Be Doing:

  • Develops ongoing surveillance of indicated disease bundles, order sets, policies, procedures, and practices to ensure safe quality care to patients, ensuring consistency and continuity.
  • Participates in ensuring the assessment, implementation, and evaluation of interventions set forth by accrediting agencies for disease specific program certifications and CMS as a member of the multi-disciplinary team
  • Participates in patient rounding and chart review regularly and evaluates patients progress with plan of care to ensure quality care and education for both patients and families
  • Integrates relevant research into present practice to facilitate the design and development of tools and resources to provide staff with current best-practice and evidence-based research. Participates in on-going staff educational opportunities and provides clinical expertise across all professional levels and departments regarding the complex care of patients and assists leaders to successfully achieve specific quality and patient safety targets.
  • Monitors clinical indicators set by The Joint Commission (TJC) and the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS) on all indicated patient populations and participates in data collection, trending, and analysis regarding the on-going development, effectiveness, and outcomes of the clinical care program.
  • Analyzes opportunities for improvement then designs and implements initiatives to improve the process of care defined for indicated patient population in accordance with regulatory recommendations.
  • Stabilizes and maintains patient follow-up structure post hospitalization including establishment of patient call back structure post hospitalization.
  • Responsible for coordinating community outreach education, support, and events.
  • Participates in seeking grant funding in accordance with community and program needs to promote adequate and excellent care delivery, education, and training.

  • Expert knowledge and ability to develop and apply procedures in complex assignments

  • Excellent computer skills with experience in data collection, interpretation and analyzing
  • Professional knowledge and technical ability to analyze, design, test and implement systems and applications
  • Demonstrate an independent work initiative, sound judgment and attention to detail
  • Ability to handle multiple task simultaneously

Here Is What You Will Need:

Sepsis Specialty Certification Coordinator:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited school of nursing
  • Wyoming Registered Nurse License or enhanced Nurse Licensure (eNLC)
  • Two (2) or more years’ experience in medical-surgical, ortho-neuro, critical care, or emergency nursing
  • Cheyenne Regional RQI within 14 calendar days of start date

Nice To Have:

  • Two (2) or more years experience in patient safety activities and/or clinical quality improvements
