Position Summary:
The House Director/House Mother is responsible for creating a welcoming, safe, and supportive living environment for the collegiate members of Chi Omega. This live-in position focuses on fostering a positive communal atmosphere, overseeing daily house operations, coordinating facility needs, and ensuring a comfortable home for members.
Key Responsibilities:
1. House Operations & Maintenance
- Ensure the house remains a clean, safe, and comfortable home for members.
- Coordinate necessary maintenance, repairs, and facility updates in partnership with the House Corporation Board.
- Serve as the point of contact for vendors, contractors, and service providers.
- Help manage household expenses related to upkeep and utilities.
- The house is open from the beginning of August through the end of the school year in May and is closed during recognized university breaks.
2. Community & Resident Support
- Build positive relationships with collegiate members and foster a sense of community.
- Act as a trusted and approachable resource for members.
- Support members in resolving minor conflicts and maintaining a respectful living environment.
- Be available in case of emergencies and assist in connecting members with appropriate resources.
3. Staff Coordination & House Services
- Oversee and coordinate household staff, including chefs, cleaning personnel, and maintenance providers.
- Ensure meal services run smoothly and meet members' needs in collaboration with the chef/catering team.
- Maintain oversight of housekeeping services and ensure shared spaces are well cared for.
4. House Guidelines & Well-being
- Provide guidance on maintaining a respectful and inclusive living space.
- Help members uphold house expectations while maintaining a positive, supportive atmosphere.
- Encourage a balance of academic, social, and personal well-being within the chapter house.
- Promote a safe environment and ensure security measures are in place.
5. Administrative & Communication Duties
- Maintain clear communication with the Chapter President, Chapter Facilities Manager and House Corporation Board.
- Work in collaboration with the House Corporation Board and Facilities Manager to create the House Opening/Closing calendar for the year.
- Keep records of maintenance needs, house expenditures, and staff schedules.
- Assist in coordinating chapter events or alumnae gatherings at the house.
- Participate in occasional chapter meetings or house meetings as needed.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work with and support young adults in a communal living environment.
- Experience with household budgeting and coordinating service providers.
- Must live on-site (housing and some meals provided).
- Background check required.
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
Strongly Preferred:
- Experience as a House Director/House Mother or in a similar residential leadership role.
- Experience in property management, hospitality, student affairs, or a related field.
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $42,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
