The Director, Nursing Operations is responsible and accountable for the management of nursing practice, nursing education and professional development, administration and nursing service for their areas of oversight. Under the guidelines and vision set forth
by the Chief Nursing Officer & the Vice President, Patient Care Services, the Director, Nursing Operations ensures the development, implementation, and evaluation of policies, programs, and services that are evidence-based and consistent with professional
standards and values. She/He must create an environment that supports the practice of nursing, nursing retention and recruitment.
The Director, Nursing Operations is accountable to ensure the professional development and competence of their direct reports, along with nursing and other support staff, in their areas of oversight. The Director, Nursing Operations is responsible for the
operational performance of their areas as it relates to care delivery, quality outcomes, budget performance, physician and patient satisfaction, and departmental turnover.

Essential Key Job Responsibilities
- Identify and participate in the establishment of Nursing and ancillary staff development programs to support the necessary skills needed to provide outstanding care to the patient population of CHI Memorial.
- Participate in the establishment and annual assurance of competencies for all patient care staff and monitor on an ongoing basis.
- Establish and maintain high levels of physician satisfaction for all services provided.
- Identify leadership development opportunities for Nurse Managers and work with the appropriate individuals to establish operational goals related to improving outcomes.
- Work collaboratively with all departments to achieve and maintain high patient satisfaction.
- Meet the compliance standards of various regulatory bodies which affect the provision of services, to include the Joint Commission, life safety, state, federal and other regulatory bodies.
- Collaborates with CNO/ VP Patient Care Services to establish and monitor budget and financial targets for all areas including productivity benchmarking and staffing.
- Identifies and explores opportunities for expanding and improving current services. Designs new ways to approach team and organizational goals.
- Collaborates with SLA for the successful identification, development and implementation of business plans after approval and assists in monitoring progress where appropriate.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Required Education And Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in related discipline
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- At least five (5) years of healthcare operational experience in nursing leadership role
- Master’s Degree
- RN License (RN:GA)
- Basic Life Support - CPR (BLS-CPR)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 6 months based on Tennessee Market Requirements per Position Number spreadsheet
- Skills in matrix management
- Staffing or Budget management skills
