Responsibilities
JOB SUMMARY
Manages all aspects of the six CHI Saint Joseph Hospital Retail Gift Shops in Kentucky. This includes financial oversight, purchasing, staffing and ensuring appropriate stock for cost-effective operations. The (6) on-site gift shops are located in Bardstown, Mount Sterling, Berea, London and two in Lexington; with central nucleus in Saint Joseph(main) Hospital.
Utilizing volunteers to staff all locations this role serves a primary oversight, promoting customer satisfaction. Must have ability to efficiently manage time with multiple sites; purchasing and stocking inventory. Relationship management with vendors, volunteers and hospital departments is also crucial to success in this position.

Must have experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
Pay Range
$22.89 - $33.20 /hour

Sales, Merchandising and Vendor Management
- Researches, selects, orders, and sells merchandise/stock deemed appropriate for the CHI-SJH gift shops (e.g. greeting cards, souvenirs, artwork, books, snack foods, clothing, handbags, gifts, OTC medications, flowers, supplies, novelty items, special orders, etc.).
- Attends industry-specific gift shows to identify appropriate product lines/stock.
- Maintains contact with a variety of vendors to place orders and negotiate favorable pricing for market wide inventory
- Provide training to volunteers and participate in direct customer service to patrons as needed, including assisting customers in selecting and purchasing merchandise/stock.
- Problem solving orders, tracking shipments, meeting deadlines and procuring special order items.
- Maintains inventory control of merchandise for all gift shops, including performing long-range forecasting by reviewing prior year sales history to ensure adequate of inventory at each on-site shop
- Utilizes inventory control system to assure adequate stock levels to meet the needs of customers
- Oversee the Kentucky market gift shops with in person visits on regular cadence to ensure cash management accuracy and reporting compliance
- Serve as custodian over change fund management
- Recommend effective pricing strategies
- Provides input to Finance and Facilities, for developing the annual budget
- Receives, reconciles and processes vendor invoices, and approves expenditures within defined scope of responsibility
- Keep manager and finance team apprised of annual budget monthly/quarterly as requested. Identifying all issues with potential budgetary impact
- Oversee volunteer staff record keeping and encourage standard operating procedures
- Supply activity reports from each location as requested with both manual and electronic transactions
- Work with management providing purchasing/utilization reports to evaluate feasibility of product lines
- Liaison with volunteers, finance department and payroll for employee deductions
Marketing
- Plans advertising/product displays and arranges merchandise to promote strong sales, expand customer base and increase revenues
- Participates in the design and execution of retail merchandising displays, including setting up (or overseeing staff in setting up) product displays and placing products on shelves
- Changes displays periodically to stimulate customer interest and generate ongoing patronage
- Keeps abreast of new trends/developments in retail sales/merchandising, gift shop product lines, and/or changing regulatory standards/requirements to analyze impact on current CHI-FH procedures
- Monitors sales to adjust par levels as business growth and seasonal fluctuations affect operations.
- Oversees replenishment of stock and tracking of out-of-stock items.
- Ensures that all purchasing/receiving standards and procedures are followed, including that shipments are received and properly inventoried, and that returns, overstocks or defective shipments are appropriately handled.
- Oversees year-end inventory, checking for theft and shrinkage.

- Knowledge of retail sales and merchandising techniques/practices and costing/pricing methodologies relating to gift shop operations.
- Knowledge of techniques and procedures needed to maintain retail inventory, accounting and financial records of a retail sales operation.
- Knowledge of the functionality and operation of retail point-of-sale (POS) systems.
- Knowledge of alternative supplier sources for merchandise in specified area of retail operations.
- Ability to keep abreast of new trends and developments in the retail sales, merchandising and inventory control.
- Ability to gather and evaluate data to identify process improvement, revenue-generating and cost-reduction opportunities.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as required by the duties of the position, including vendors, employees and the general public.
- Ability to use office equipment and automated systems/applications/software at an acceptable level of proficiency.
- Ability to read, understand and communicate in English sufficient to perform the duties of the position.
