Full-Time and Part-time - Seasonal (May/June - October)
JOB SUMMARY:
The Dockhand role at Chicago Electric Boat Company offers an opportunity to learn the boating and marina industry while offering our guests a safe, fun cruising experience. Dockhands are responsible for sending our rental boats and tending to the transient docks.
ENVIRONMENT: Energetic and hardworking company. You would be working independently, alongside other management, and seasonal employees. You would be working on the Chicago River at one of our 2 downtown dock locations. Boating Experience is preferred for this position, but optional.
DESCRIPTION:
- Acts as the company’s brand ambassador while interacting with guests
- Maintains clear communication with location managers, office staff, and fellow crew throughout the working day
- You will be responsible for both our boat rental operations and our dockage customers
- Provides boat rental guests with clear information about operating the boat, safe driving practices, and emergency procedures.
- Acts as the main Point of Contact for customers while they enjoy their cruise
- Assist dock customers with tying up their boat
- Ensure arriving yachts have a reservation, if not assist in the booking process
- Ensure all dock rules are being followed by customers
- Consistently communicate with management
- Perform opening and closing procedures for designated location
REQUIREMENTS:
- Local to the Chicagoland area (or a new resident/planning a move to the area)
- Available to work the entire season (approximately May-October depending on weather)
- Comfortable with an active/outdoor position
- Work weekends and able to work late hours
- Reliable
- Must be able to swim and comfortable working around water
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Must be comfortable operating a small electric boat
- Must be 18 years old or older
- Timely
- Excellent customer service skills
- Quick Learner
- Must be US Citizen or authorized to work in the US
PREFERENCES:
- Boating experience is highly preferred
- Strives under pressure/in fast paced environments
- Takes initiative
PAY RATE:
This is a tipped position. The starting hourly wage is $14.
