OUR STORY
THE CHICAGO CUBS FRANCHISE The Chicago Cubs franchise, a charter member of Major League Baseball’s National League since 1876, has won the National League pennant 17 times and was the first team to win back-to-back World Series titles in the 1907 and 1908 seasons. In 2016, the Chicago Cubs made history again when the team won its first World Series in 108 years, ending the longest championship drought in North American sports. Known for its ivy-covered outfield walls, hand-operated scoreboard and famous Marquee, iconic Wrigley Field has been the home of the Chicago Cubs since 1916 and is the second oldest ballpark in Major League Baseball. HOW YOU’LL CONTRIBUTE:
The Senior Benefits Specialist is responsible for administering and managing associate benefit and retirement programs for front office, field staff and baseball operations. This role also manages the wellness program and employee recognition programs. Provides subject matter expertise on benefits by providing analysis, support, education, and training for associates and key stakeholders.
THE DAY-TO-DAY: • Core job responsibilities in order of importance • Administer all benefit programs to include retirement (401K and profit sharing), medical, dental, vision, flexible spending accounts, health spending accounts, life, voluntary life and accidental death and disability. • Assist in annual benefits renewal and lead annual open enrollment. • Partner with benefits broker to analyze current benefits, utilization, services, coverage, effectiveness, cost, plan experience and competitive trends in the marketplace. • Assist on benefit projects related to vendor selection, new benefit program implementation and plan design evaluations. • Partner with HRIS Manager to ensure Workday configuration aligns with policies and plan documents. • Review and approve benefit transactions in Workday and complete an annual review of all benefit plan documents. Responsible for annual update and dissemination of documentation for employee benefit policies, plans and processes. • Prepare clear and concise communications for open enrollment, new associate orientation, benefits education and separation. Conduct orientation and other benefit presentations as needed. Maintain benefits intranet pages and other resources. • Oversee leaves-of-absence programs; partner with leave vendor and employees to ensure leave claims are processed timely. • Manage wellness program and track participation for program rewards. Align wellness utilization to overall medical insurance costs. • Administer employee recognition program. Ensure program remains aligned with values and overall people strategy; recommend changes as appropriate. • Maintain strong relationships with benefits broker and vendors. Work strategically to optimize utilization, data accuracy and ongoing associate support. • Support benefits enrollment and changes for eligible staff on union and MLB plans. • Assist with Total Rewards tasks and projects as needed. • Ensure compliance and governance with internal policies and external state and federal regulations, such as ERISA, Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, and FMLA. Responsible for completion of forms 5500, 1094/1095C, Non-Discrimination Testing, and benefit audits.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING: • Bachelor’s degree • 4 years of experience in benefits management, total rewards or HR • Demonstrated project management and process improvement skills • Excellent communication and presentation skills • Ability to effectively establish and maintain working relationships with peers and partners at all levels of the organization • Strong analysis and problem-solving skills • Ability to manage difficult, sensitive, and confidential issues • Proactive initiative-taker with the ability to manage competing priorities • Strong service mindset; ensure questions are responded to in a timely way, issues are fully resolved and status and resolution is communicated • High Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
