About the job Description Position Summary: Under the general supervision of the Chief Executive Officer, the Facilities Manager will be responsible for the management and coordination of all environmental care functions across Chicago Family Health Center (CFHC) facilities. This includes overseeing events, renovations, and repairs at all locations. The Facilities Manager is responsible for the regular inspection, planning, and execution of repairs and maintenance, as well as estimating material costs and labor hours. The role also involves liaising with all departments to ensure support service needs are met, while adhering to CFHC standards and applicable state and federal regulations. The Facilities Manager ensures a safe, compliant, and high-quality environment for all CFHC staff, patients, and visitors. The role leverages industry knowledge and best practices to advance CFHC’s mission and vision while supporting cultural development efforts within the organization. Responsibilities Manage and oversee the planning, operation, repair, and maintenance of heating/cooling, electrical, emergency power, fire protection systems, plumbing, grounds, and carpentry for all properties. Provide strategic leadership for the planning and ongoing maintenance of all CFHC properties. Oversee the environment of care, including life safety, safety, security, hazardous materials, emergency preparedness, medical equipment, and utility systems. Recommend and implement changes to ensure facilities meet appropriate codes and standards for safe operation. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as accrediting agency standards, in collaboration with the Compliance and Risk Manager. Manage relationships with contractors for short- and long-term assignments. Lead and manage the Facilities staff and contractors. Develop, implement, and maintain an emergency preparedness management plan. Assist with the development of new sites, including collaborating with contractors and architects to ensure timelines and budgets are met. Manage construction, remodeling, and renovation projects. Ensure utility systems and equipment support health care services and develop redundancy plans and emergency procedures in case of system failure. Supervise building maintenance programs related to HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry. Develop and update policies, procedures, and practices to improve operational effectiveness and safety. Oversee HR responsibilities for maintenance and janitorial staff, including hiring, promotions, development, performance evaluations, and employee morale. Collaborate with department and center management staff to maintain a clean, safe, and efficient operational environment. Manage all permits, operating certificates, and occupancy permits, ensuring they are valid and renewed in a timely manner. Report on facilities’ requirements for accreditation and assist with necessary changes. Ensure CFHC facilities comply with OSHA standards and company policies and regulations. Train staff on proper procedures for managing spills, equipment malfunctions, and exposure to chemicals. Serve as chair of the CFHC Safety Committee and manage emergency preparedness plans. Perform other duties as assigned. A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience as a facilities manager or in a similar role, including at least one (1) year of supervisory experience in mechanical and electrical engineering and/or HVAC. Experience in the community-based health or healthcare industry is preferred. Working knowledge of LEED-certified buildings and project management for new and renovation projects. Normal office environment. Occasional evening or weekend work is necessary. Travel to all Chicago Family Health Center locations will be required
