English Academic Teacher for the 2025-2026 School Year
The Chicago High School for the Arts is now accepting applications for a licensed English Teacher.

Position Summary:
We are seeking a passionate and skilled English Teacher who is dedicated to providing an engaging, college-preparatory education that challenges students to achieve at high levels. The ideal candidate will foster a love for literature, writing, and critical thinking while differentiating instruction, designing data-driven lesson plans, and integrating technology into the learning experience.
Qualifications
Key Responsibilities:
Instruction & Student Engagement
- Develop and implement dynamic, student-centered lessons that promote critical reading, writing, and analytical skills.
- Foster a classroom culture that encourages discussion, creativity, and intellectual curiosity.
- Differentiate instruction to support diverse learning needs and ensure equitable access to rigorous content.
- Utilize a variety of assessment tools to measure student progress and inform instructional decisions.
- Prepare students for success in ChiArts’ curriculum and standardized assessments.
Collaboration & Professional Development
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop and implement best practices that align with ChiArts' unique instructional approach.
- Actively participate in faculty meetings, professional development sessions, and school-wide initiatives.
- Engage with artistic faculty to support students’ overall academic and artistic success.
- Maintain regular communication with students, families, and staff to support student progress and well-being.
School & Community Engagement
- Implement trauma-informed, restorative justice, and anti-racist practices in the classroom.
- Serve as a student advisor and provide mentorship to help students navigate academic and personal challenges.
- Participate in school events, parent conferences, open houses, and other community-building activities.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and engagement.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Illinois teaching certification with appropriate content endorsement(s).
- Experience with curriculum development and backward design planning preferred.
- Strong understanding of educational technology and its integration into the classroom.
- Passion for arts education and commitment to ChiArts’ mission.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse students and staff in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
Salary & Benefits:
- Salary Range: $60,000 - $75,000 (based on experience and qualifications).
