Paraprofessional (2025-2026 School Year)
The Chicago High School for the Arts is now accepting applications for a licensed Paraprofessional.

Position Summary:
The Paraprofessional will assist the Case Manager and the Diverse Learners department in coordinating and facilitating accommodations for students with 504 plans and IEPs. This role extends beyond traditional one-on-one paraprofessional duties, incorporating administrative coordination, teacher collaboration, and direct student support to enhance academic success and accessibility.
Qualifications
Key Responsibilities:
Administrative Coordination
- Oversee a designated classroom, which may include a study hall and/or advisory.
- Supervise students with separate testing accommodations and extended time, ensuring assessments (quizzes, tests, and written projects) are administered according to guidelines.
- Maintain a testing schedule using Google Suite, tracking student assessments, teacher names, and timing requirements.
- Coordinate final exams for 504 students (30-40 students), including test collection, room reservations, and administration logistics.
Teacher Collaboration
- Coordinate testing schedules 3-5 days in advance with teachers via email or an Assessment Calendar.
- Collect and track student assessment data, noting behavioral patterns and accommodations usage.
- Collaborate with Diverse Learner (DL) teachers and general education instructors to monitor students who need to complete tests outside of scheduled class time.
- Attend weekly meetings (DL meetings, all-staff meetings, grade-level meetings) to consult on student behavior and academic progress.
Direct Student Support
- Build positive relationships with students, supporting ChiArts’ trauma-informed, anti-bias, and restorative justice practices.
- Maintain academic integrity while supervising student assessments.
- Participate in special academic and non-academic days, including SAT/PSAT testing days, institute days, and report card pickup days.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree from an accredited college (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
- ISBE Paraprofessional License/Certification required.
- Experience in an educational setting preferred.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to adapt and improve in dynamic educational environments.
- Passion for arts education and working with diverse student populations.
- Commitment to collaborative teamwork and student-centered learning approaches.
Salary & Benefits:
- Salary Range: $40,000 - $50,000 (based on experience and qualifications).
