Key Responsibilities
In the role of Diverse Learner Teacher, your responsibilities will include:
- Embracing and promoting ChiArts' vision, mission, and core values.
- Implementing trauma-informed, restorative justice, and anti-racist teaching practices.
- Designing and delivering lessons that foster critical thinking, oral and written communication, and ethical decision-making.
- Using backward design principles to develop unit plans aligned with curriculum goals.
- Collaborating with colleagues to establish “best practices” tailored to our diverse student population.
- Administering and evaluating student assessments, and using data to inform instruction.
- Integrating technology into classroom instruction and assessments.
- Employing strong classroom management strategies aligned with ChiArts’ code of conduct.
- Maintaining consistent communication with parents regarding student progress.
- Participating in professional development, faculty meetings, and school events.
- Serving as an advisor in the student advisory program and actively supporting the success of ChiArts’ scholar-artists.
Qualifications
The Diverse Learner Teacher must meet the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with Illinois teaching certification and proper endorsements.
- Experience in curriculum development and knowledge of backward design planning is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Expertise in the subject area and proficiency in educational technology.
- A commitment to equity, inclusion, and the value of arts education.
- Reflective teaching practices and adaptability to changing needs.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and nurture collegial relationships.
