Chicago Marriott Northwest, nestled in the northwest suburbs off I90 Toll Road and Route 59, just 30 minutes outside of Chicago. Our hotel is the perfect commute and work-home away from home base for suburban, urban and even farm country dwellers.

Bartender - Key Responsibilities

As a Bartender at our Chicago Marriott Northwest in Hoffman Estates, you will play a crucial role in creating a memorable first impression for our guests. Your engaging personality and exceptional customer service skills will contribute to our goal of providing guests with an unforgettable experience. Your key responsibilities will include:

Beverage Preparation:

• Verify the customers’ ages
• Mix traditional and creative cocktails
• Process payment
• Clean glasses and bar utensils
• Make suggestions based on customer tastes and preferences
• Record and balance cash receipts and prepare cash deposits
• Open and maintain tabs throughout their shift
• Build a rapport with regular customers to create a positive atmosphere
• Mix and serve a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks based on customer orders.
• Possess a strong knowledge of different types of spirits, wines, beers, and mixers.
• Create innovative and visually appealing drinks.
• Stock and prepare beverage garnishes, ensuring ice, glasses, and other bar supplies are readily available.

Customer Service:

• Greet customers, take orders, and provide recommendations.
• Maintain a friendly and approachable demeanor.
• Ensure a positive and enjoyable bar experience for all customers.

Bar Operations:

• Maintain a clean and organized bar area, including sanitizing surfaces, glassware, and utensils.
• Handle cash and credit card transactions accurately and efficiently.
• Manage bar inventory, ensuring adequate stock of all necessary supplies.
• Follow all applicable health and safety regulations.

Other Duties:

• Assist with other bar tasks as needed, such as restocking supplies or cleaning up spills.
• May serve food to customers who eat at the bar.

Bartender - Qualifications

• Excellent customer service skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of bar etiquette and safety procedures.
• Cash handling and point-of-sale (POS) system skills.
• Good multi-tasking skills to provide excellent service to multiple clients simultaneously
• Presentable appearance and good hygiene
• Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations
• Knowledge of mixology for traditional and creative cocktails
• Understanding of unique and complementary flavor pairings
• Impeccable customer service and social perceptiveness
• Ability to evaluate customer satisfaction and be responsive
• Ability to enforce company policies regarding the consumption of alcohol
• Accountability in maintaining inventory and processing payments
• Physical ability to stand or walk for long periods of time

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $9.00 - $15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
