Hotel Accountant - Key Responsibilities
As a Hotel Accountant at our Chicago Marriott Northwest in Hoffman Estates, you will play a crucial role in creating a memorable first impression for our guests. As the Hotel Accountant, you will managethe financial aspects of a hotel, including recording transactions, preparing reports, reconciling accounts, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations, while also contributing to budgeting and forecasting.
Your engaging personality and exceptional customer service skills will contribute to our goal of providing guests with an unforgettable experience. Your key responsibilities will include:
Financial Reporting:
- Preparing and reviewing financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Preparing and maintaining accurate financial records, including daily revenue postings and expense entries.
- Ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting to management and stakeholders.
Accounts Payable and Receivable:
- Overseeing accounts payable and receivable processes, including invoice verification, payment processing, and collection efforts.
- Reconciling bank statements and general ledger accounts.
- Following up on outstanding invoices and resolving payment discrepancies.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Assisting in the development and monitoring of the hotel's annual budget.
- Analyzing financial data to identify trends and potential issues.
- Preparing forecasts and projections to support strategic planning.
Compliance and Auditing:
- Ensuring compliance with financial regulations and hotel policies.
- Assisting with internal and external audits.
- Maintaining accurate records and documentation for audit purposes.
Other Duties:
- Managing corporate taxes and other related taxes.
- Preparing and processing monthly sales taxes.
- Monitoring cash flow and working capital.
- Utilizing accounting software and IT systems.
- Providing support to other departments on financial matters.
Hotel Accountant - Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of experience in accounting/finance. Hotel accounting experience preferred.
- BS/BA in Accounting or Finance required.
- Strong computer skills, including advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Strong analytical, organizational, planning and communication skills
- Ability to schedule, determine priorities and meet critical deadlines
- Creative/strategic thinker, able to help enhance current systems
- Ability to analyze complex issues, identify alternative solutions and communicate them effectively with management
- Dynamic, proactive, solution-oriented and creative individual who can work in a dynamic environment
- Excellent written, verbal and organizational skills
- Flexibility to work extended hours (as required)

Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
