The Office of Inspector General (OIG) is the independent oversight body for Chicago's approximately 650 public, contract, and charter schools. The Office's Sexual Allegations Unit investigates allegations of sexual misconduct by a CPS-affiliated adult, including employees, contractors, vendors and charter schools, where the victim is a CPS student and / or a minor.
Job Summary :
Reporting to the Inspector General, the Assistant Inspector General, Sexual Allegations Unit will provide legal counsel and support to the OIG's Sexual Allegations Unit, which investigates cases involving sexual abuse or sexual harassment of CPS students.
The Assistant Inspector General will be held accountable for the following responsibilities :
- Provide legal counsel, support, and guidance on topics including but not limited to, the OIG's jurisdiction, search and seizure and other constitutional issues, labor and employment, interpretation and enforcement of statutes and ordinances, Title IX, and investigations in the Sexual Allegations Unit
- Write and edit investigative summary reports, which are sent to the Chicago Board of Education
- Advise on strategic and legal investigative matters, including investigative techniques and the strength of evidence obtained
- Perform legal research and write and edit legal memoranda on issues related to investigations
- Work with outside law enforcement entities as appropriate
- Prepare subpoenas and other documents for administrative and criminal actions
- Provide training on legal issues as requested by the Inspector General
- Closely coordinate with CPS's Law, Safety and Security, and Student Protections / Title IX Offices, other departments, and external agencies to ensure student safety and facilitate the delivery of trauma and / or social-emotional services to students, families, and staff
