Located within the Office of Teaching and Learning (T&L), the Instructional Systems and Supports (ISS) team is responsible for creating, managing, and supporting equitable systems for schools in the areas of grading (including Competency-Based Education), scheduling, and recovery. Through establishing consistent collaboration with all stakeholders, making data-informed decisions, and ensuring that current policy is followed, the ISS team provides schools with the systems and supports needed to ensure that students have a high-quality instructional experience and are able to successfully complete both elementary and high school.
Job Summary :
The Program Manager, Academic Recovery will assist with the implementation and execution of effective academic recovery programming, providing CPS students with customized, intensive instruction to meet student’s individual academic needs. Under the direction of the Executive Director of Instructional Systems & Supports (ISS), this position will support the ISS team in realizing the district's goals for student promotion and success. The Program Manager, Academic Recovery will be responsible for the strategic planning and implementation of citywide programs throughout the year that enable students to meet promotion criteria or graduation requirements. This is a full-time exempt position that will be paid for time worked on a salary basis.
This position will be held accountable for the following responsibilities :
- Develop, refine and implement a cohesive plan for K-12 academic recovery interventions inclusive of current district policies and initiatives (MTSS, Accelerated Learning, etc).
- Collaborate across CPS Offices to plan and implement academic recovery programs to meet all students’ needs, streamlining communication and timelines to reduce costs for site management, transportation, nutrition services, etc.
- Ensure that rigorous and relevant curriculum, assessments, and instructional support are provided for students who have not met promotion criteria or graduation requirements.
- Collaborate with various internal stakeholders (MTSS, Attendance, Grading, SOAR TASSEL,, etc.) to develop and implement strategies that support retained students and reduce the population of students at risk for retention.
- Analyze student achievement data pre-program to determine where the programs are needed most and post-program to determine students’ ongoing intervention needs, as well as program effectiveness.
- Develop and monitor budgets for academic recovery, including school-based personnel, materials, professional development, etc.
- Collaborate regularly with stakeholders, including partnering departments, Network representatives, schools, and families to provide necessary support.
- Support the organizing and implementation of academic recovery and districtwide summer programming, including the common school choice form, communication, data collection, etc.
- Support the efforts of team members, driving collaboration across the team, providing leadership, motivation, and coaching in the planning and implementation of all team responsibilities.
