The Educator Equity team works cross functionally within the Talent Office and across the district to ensure high-quality, diverse candidate pipelines that help our schools and departments reach optimal staffing levels. Within the Educator Equity team, led by the Director, several individual units manage programming and initiatives focused on specific candidate groups, such as paraprofessional staff, licensed teachers, and substitute employees, along with providing occasional support to other high-priority groups. The Staffing Specialist, Educator Equity will adhere to three key goals : 1) delivering impeccable customer service, 2) speedy and accurate turn-around of all recruiting transactions, and 3) working as a cross-trained, flexible and cohesive team member. This is a full-time, exempt position, that will be paid for hours worked on a salary basis.
Job Summary
Reporting primarily to the Director, Educator Equity and Recruitment, the Staffing Specialist, Educator Equity will provide Tier 1 customer service support to candidates, including answering calls or emails, and exercise independent judgment in the processing of transactions related to recruitment and staffing candidates. They will evaluate applications from employees to determine eligibility in line with established laws, policies and procedures, as well as work with team members to identify and operationalize process improvements related to their work. This hybrid role requires 40-60% in-person attendance at the office or events weekly, and is based at our Garfield Park office.
The Staffing Specialist will be held accountable for the following responsibilities :
Supporting the Opportunity Schools program (60%), the Staffing Specialist will :
- Recruit 25 high-quality teachers into Chicago Public Schools in low-income communities with support and training from the Director
- Build strong working partnerships with CPS school leaders to assist them with teacher acquisition and retention
- Support the development and implementation of several Talent Office strategies designed to improve teacher recruitment and retention
- Represent CPS to critical external partners including prospective teachers, university partners and others
- Analyze data to assess the effectiveness of the Educator Equity team’s efforts
