What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mascot Actor - Independent Contractor position at Chicago Stars Football Club?
Overview:
The Chicago Stars Football Club Supernova Mascot Actor will work as an Independent Contractor to engage with fans at matchdays and other Chicagoland activations. This is a temporary position for the 2025 season at SeatGeek Stadium. The ideal candidate will be an experienced performer, able to improvise and interact with fans of all ages and bring a big personality to our mascot.
Expectations:
- Demonstrate exemplary professional behavior and appearance at all events.
- Be upbeat, energetic, and ready to get in character upon arrival at events.
- Attend match days at SeatGeek Stadium in the Fan Zone before the match, on the pitch at halftime, and other one-off appearances.
- Attend Chicagoland activations as Chicago Stars FC Community team gets appearance requests or sources other opportunities for Supernova.
- Proactively search for appearance opportunities in the Chicagoland area that advance and improve Chicago Stars FC brand awareness and loyalty.
- Maintain the suit’s hygiene and appearance, and alert Chicago Stars FC Community team when additional repairs are needed.
Required Education or Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in performance arts (as a mascot, OR stage acting, improv, comedy, screen acting, etc.)
Qualifications/Preferred Skills:
- Experience working as a mascot for a school, sports team, or brand preferred.
- Additional entertainment skills, such as drawing/art, pop culture knowledge, biking, dance, or gymnastic and acrobatic skills.
- Experience working with children and young adults.
- Must be available to work at least six (6) home matches – including some nights, holidays, and weekends.
- Knowledge of the NWSL and the Chicago Stars FC is preferable.
- Must demonstrate a positive attitude, uphold the club’s standards of excellent customer service and professionalism, and exercise good tact, discretion, and judgement.
- Must work in cooperation with club staff without supervision as an Independent Contractor
- Must have access to reliable transportation to and from SeatGeek Stadium in Bridgeview, IL.
Compensation:
- $75 - $100 per hour (based on performer rate and experience).
Time Commitment:
- Minimum of (6) Chicago Stars FC regular season home matches. Option to work up to thirteen (13) matches if available.
- An average of 2-3 external events/month
