What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Manager, Video position at Chicago Stars Football Club?
The Chicago Stars FC is looking for an experienced visual storyteller to lead motion video efforts for the club. This person will utilize visual mediums to inform, entertain, and inspire current and future fans and drive interest and engagement with the Chicago Stars FC. They will serve as the embedded team videographer, responsible for capturing and editing video content for Chicago Stars FC owned, operated and third-party distribution platforms. They will assist in bringing the personalities of our athletes to life via film and will work closely with the brand, communications, and content leads to manifest the Star’s personality, tone, voice, and thematics across club content. As a key member of the creative team and embedded within the marketing department, they will assist in defining the marketing team’s overall strategy and contribute to annual marketing planning and execution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for managing high-quality video projects from conception to completion in partnership with brand, design, social, partnership marketing, match presentation, and other subject matter experts to ensure content is produced efficiently and effectively and maintains brand standards.
- Responsible for capturing high-quality video footage that will be used to support creative assets across the organization.
- Editing and producing unique short-form content optimized for digital platforms, in-stadium, and/or broadcast use.
- Work closely with marketing experts to develop promotional video content that supports revenue-generating initiatives such as ticket sales, retail promotion, camps, and other business objectives.
- Work in alignment with brand and creative team members to define the Chicago Stars FC brand.
- Oversee matchday, media day event, and corporate partnership content production, including hiring independent contractors, creating shot lists, and managing video production.
- Attend training sessions, home matches, and travel with the team for select away matches to capture match action, behind-the-scenes footage, and player/staff interviews.
- Transport, set up, and operate various production equipment, including cameras, audio, and lighting for on-location and studio productions.
- Hire and manage the network of video contractors to support club initiatives.
- Help maintain and provide guidance on video production rentals and purchases to ensure the organization has video equipment to achieve goals in alignment with the annual budget
- Help stand up asset management system in partnership with photography and creative leads.
- Log, archive, and organize video footage to optimize file management and facilitate future use.
- Help organization, plan and execute best in class media day in coordination with other creative and marketing leads.
- Innovative and curious – stays up-to-date with the latest tools, trends, and techniques in content creation, motion assets, digital, social media, and sports.
- Optimize creative development process in partnership with others within across the marketing team and organization.
Required Qualifications:
- 5-6 years video production experience within team or league environment
- Proficient in Adobe Premiere (Photoshop and After Effects are a plus).
- Cinema camera experience, including working with and setting up lighting
- Understanding of audio recording and leveraging music library to create emotional storytelling
- Builds trust and positive working relationships with high profile athletes, coaching staff, sporting and business leaders within the organization.
- Ability to work non-traditional hours in non-traditional settings, including all games and events that fall on nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
- Willing to travel domestically to away matches and some international travel possible during pre-season.
- Collaborative and receptive to feedback.
- Can work in a fast-paced environment, is well organized with the ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines
- Requires standing and the ability to lift and carry equipment up to 50 lbs.
- Creative problem solver with proven experience identifying ways to develop engaging creative
- Experience pitching a creative vision through content ability to communicate this effectively with other partners to enhance support and buy-in Expertise in Adobe Creative Cloud, specifically Premiere with proficiency in After Effects preferred
- Experience with project management tools like Asana
