What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounting Assistant Part-Time position at Chicago White Sox?
Overview:
The Chicago White Sox are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Accounting Assistant to join our Accounts Payable team. This part-time role is integral to the smooth functioning of our financial operations, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in processing financial transactions. The candidate must be available to work on-site in our offices at Rate Field, approximately 20 hours per week. With baseball season fast approaching we’re looking for someone with the flexibility to start immediately!
Responsibilities:
- Process accounts payable invoices and ensure timely payments.
- Verify and reconcile invoices and statements.
- Maintain accurate and organized financial records.
- Handle vendor inquiries and resolve discrepancies.
- Support the Accounts Payable team with various administrative tasks.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Work with other departments, such as Purchasing, to ensure records are accurate and complete.
- Suggest ways to improve processes and increase efficiency.
- Perform ad hoc projects as necessary throughout the season, including spring training.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in accounting, or equivalent professional experience
- 1-2 years of experience in accounts payable or an accounting role/internship preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Knowledge of accounting principles.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to perform efficient, error-free work and meet deadlines.
- Experience with accounting software and ERP systems is a plus. We are currently in the process of transitioning from Sage 500 to NetSuite.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
