Staff Accountant – Chicago White Sox
The Chicago White Sox Accounting Department is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our fast paced and high-volume team. The ideal candidate will have excellent attention to detail, be resourceful and adaptable with a demonstrated ability to work effectively within a departmental team. An understanding of general financial accounting with a desire to learn the specifics of accounting as it pertains to a professional sports franchise is necessary.
Responsibilities
- Prepare daily cash management and Ticketmaster journal entries
- Reconcile daily gift card transactions
- Maintain fixed asset system
- Research and resolve discrepancies in reporting as needed
- Manage petty cash process and reconcile account monthly
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations
- Review monthly investment statements and prepare journal entries to book activity
- Perform duties like the above for Chicago White Sox Charities and other related entities
- Assist with annual financial statement preparation
- Work with other departments, such as the Box Office, to ensure records are accurate and complete
- Analyze financial information
- Perform ad hoc projects as necessary
- Collaborate with your Accounting team colleagues to suggest ways to improve processes and increase efficiency
Required Qualifications:
- A four-year undergraduate degree in accounting from an accredited university or college
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and critical thinking skills
- Knowledge of accounting principles
- Ability to perform efficient, error-free work and meet deadlines
- Advanced Excel skills, Sage 500 experience a plus
- Strong written, verbal, and people skills required. Must be comfortable working in a team environment
- 1 year of experience in a full-time accounting role (or internship) preferred, any sports or event-based accounting experience a plus.
