Objective And Position Summary
The Vice President of Human Resources (HR) provides leadership and guidance to the organization’s HR operations. The Vice President is responsible for setting, enforcing, and evaluating legally compliant human resources policies, procedures, and best practices, and identifying and implementing short and long-range strategic talent management goals. While gaining the confidence and trust of others through leadership, honesty, experience, and authenticity. Additionally, the VP or HR must navigate organizational complexities with sensitivity and sincerity to leverage knowledge of organizational culture, business objectives and human resources to proactively mitigate risk to CPLC.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has direct and indirect supervision of all Human Resources functional areas and teams. This position will work collaboratively with several team members, programs, business units and employees across CPLC and serves under the direction of the EVP of Compliance/Risk/Safety and HR.
SPECIALIZATIONS
A wide degree of adaptability, knowledge, and strategic thought combined with a roll your sleeve up approach is needed to meet the challenges faced by this position. Extensive experience with non-profit operations, grants, contracts, policies and regulations is necessary to successfully complete the primary functions of this role. Sound judgment, a commitment to compliance and confidentiality, superior written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, and attention to detail are essential functions of this position.
Primary Duties And Essential Functions
The ideal candidate will hold a Master’s degree in Human Resources Management, Public Administration, Organizational Development or a related area, and have ten (10) years of experience in human resources. Additionally, at least five (5) years of leadership experience within a large organization ( /- two-thousand employees) is highly preferred. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered to meet the qualifications of this position. Preferred candidate will hold a SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP), SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP), or other relevant Human Resources credential. Demonstrated project management experience required, project management certification preferred. Candidate must have, or be eligible to obtain, and maintain an Arizona fingerprint clearance card.
The candidate will acquire and maintain working knowledge of both regulatory and operational practices of programs and business units across CPLC and its affiliates; to include all states in which CPLC operates and/or employs staff. Proficiency of computer fundamentals and business software is required, Office 365 preferred. Additionally, the candidate will have the ability to research and acquire information to ensure practices are current. - Oversees operations of the human resources department. Drives human resources policies and practices to achieve positive change in processes and culture.
- Evaluates, develops and maintains a departmental culture that enables employees to perform at their highest level while providing employee-centric service across the organization.
- Utilizes data to aid in identify real-world HR gaps and strive for continuous improvement. Evaluates, implements and manages a wide range of process improvements to increase employee satisfaction, improve efficiencies, and create a proactive system to reduce overall risk to CPLC.
- Analyzes trends and metrics to develop department and individual team goals, targets and initiatives in alignment with the overall corporate strategic goals. Develops tracking and monitoring processes to measure key performance indicators against actual results, and reports on these activities on a monthly basis to EVP.
- Provides guidance and leadership to the human resource team; assists with resolution of human resource, compensation, professional development, operations, employee relations, HR compliance and benefits questions, concerns, and issues.
- Maintains knowledge of and ensures compliance with best practices in employment laws and practices.
- Represents Human Resources on the CPLC merger & acquisition team. Assists with analyzing prospective organizations and/or partnerships. Initiates and oversees HR processes to ensure smooth transitions.
- Automates department functions to achieve a paper-less environment.
- Identify opportunities for improving, developing and retaining employees.
- Provide administrative oversight of HRIS platform and related systems.
- Ensures expenditures do not exceed allocated budget; tracks expenditures to ensure they remain within established guidelines.
- Maintains record-keeping systems relating to assigned duties.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
