Position Overview:
Chichester High School is seeking an enthusiastic and qualified individual to serve as the Varsity Head Coach for the High School Boys Soccer Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and developing student-athletes in a competitive high school soccer program. The Head Coach will be expected to foster a positive team culture, promote skill development, and ensure the team’s success both on and off the field.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the Varsity Boys Soccer Team through structured training sessions, game preparation, and strategic planning.
- Foster a team culture that emphasizes hard work, discipline, and sportsmanship.
- Prepare and implement individual player development plans, focusing on skill enhancement and team play.
- Manage team logistics, including practice schedules, game schedules, and transportation arrangements.
- Uphold all Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) rules, regulations, and eligibility requirements.
- Ensure proper care and maintenance of all soccer equipment and facilities.
- Mentor and collaborate with assistant coaches, providing guidance and ensuring consistency in coaching methods.
- Monitor the academic progress and eligibility of student-athletes to ensure their success in both sports and academics.
- Act as a positive role model and maintain effective communication with athletes, parents, and school administrators.
- Enforce safe practices and maintain player safety during all practices, games, and team activities.
- Represent the soccer program positively within the school community and at external events.
- Attend mandatory meetings, training sessions, and workshops as required by the school or district.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma required. A bachelor’s degree in education, sports management, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience:
- Previous coaching experience at the high school varsity level or equivalent coaching experience in soccer.
- Strong background in soccer strategies, coaching techniques, and player development.
- Certifications:
- NFHS Level I and Level II Coaching Certification (must be obtained within 2 years of hire).
- Current CPR, First Aid, and AED Certification.
- Knowledge:
- Comprehensive understanding of PIAA rules, regulations, and policies.
- In-depth knowledge of soccer fundamentals, including technical, tactical, physical, and psychological aspects of the game.
- Ability to implement player-centered coaching strategies that cater to varying skill levels.
- Skills:
- Strong leadership and motivational skills to inspire and manage student-athletes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with athletes, parents, and staff.
- Ability to make sound decisions under pressure and maintain a professional demeanor.
