Description
The Controller is generally responsible for supervising the accounting functions of the bank and providing and interpreting relevant, timely data needed for effective decision-making. The Controller is responsible for the bank’s fiscal recordkeeping in accordance with the bank’s principles and policies. This position is responsible for maintaining cash accounts, budgets, regulatory agency and government records and coordinating the annual certified financial audit. This position also assists in safeguarding the company’s assets.

• Answer all voicemails and emails within 24 hours of receipt
• Confer with management concerning questions, procedures, necessary information, forms completion, and problem resolutions
• Complete and attend all required CCB training
• Maintain satisfactory attendance
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Manage all accounting operations including billing, A/R, A/P, GL, cost accounting and revenue recognition
• Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements
• Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting
• Research technical accounting issues for compliance
• Perform the month-end and year-end close process
• Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
• Manage and comply with local, state and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
• Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
• File regulatory reports timely and accurately
• Manage the General Ledger, ensuring the bank’s GL reports accurately reflects the financial position of the bank
• Manage accounting employee(s) including hiring, training and development and performance reviews

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
This work is sedentary and requires the following physical activities:
• Sitting for long periods of time; occasional bending, squatting, kneeling, stooping; good finger dexterity and feeling; frequent repetitive motions; talking, hearing, and visual acuity.
• Frequent lifting (up to 10 pounds of paper supplies or minor office equipment).
PROFICIENCIES
• Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
• Excellent accounting software user and administration skills
• Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to work with individuals and groups at all organization levels; ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to take initiative and prioritize tasks; good time-management, organizational, problem-prevention and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge and understanding of banking rules, regulations, laws and all policies and procedures pertaining to this position including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act
• Ability to work accurately with close attention to detail
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
• Must be organized and maintain a positive demeanor in all situations
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Advanced degree in Accounting
• Proven working experience as Financial Controller or similar role
• 5 years of overall combined accounting and finance experience, banking/financial industry highly desired
• Experience with creating, reading and understanding financial statements
