Position Title: Instructional Aide – Floating part-time
Reports To: Daycare Manager

Salary: $19.37 hourly
Position Summary
The Instructional Aid Utility is responsible for providing a safe and developmentally appropriate environment for children in accordance with established policies and procedures of Chicken Ranch Rancheria Day Care and Learning Center. The Instructional Aide Utility is responsible for supporting the Instructional Aide Supervisor and staff in addition to supporting the daily activities and assisting with schoolwork and daily lessons provided by their principal, school, and teachers. All Aides will ensure that the internet is accessible, hygiene protocols are followed, meals and snacks are provided, and breaks are structured with safety in mind. The Utility role will provide back-up and shift coverage as needed. Hours and shifts may vary.
Core Duties and Responsibilities:
- Efficiently communicate with other staff, parents, and interdepartmental colleagues.
- Offer individual support to students to promote an understanding of the more challenging concepts.
- Provide additional support to students with special needs.
- Prepare materials to be used for projects.
- Effectively communicate and coordinate with other staff at CRR Tribal Day Care and all other Tribal entities.
- Oversee the safety of the students inside the classroom and on the facility grounds.
- Prepare and set-up for all daily activities.
- Always oversee the safety and well-being of the children.
- Keep classroom, storage areas, kitchen, diaper changing stations, and bathrooms clean, neat, and sanitized.
- Oversee drop off and pick up for children attending day care facility.
- Ensure documentation is completed for all situations involving children enrolled at the CRR Day Care.
- Ability to work rotating schedule when necessary, including weekends.
- Ability to provide staff coverage on short notice.
- Duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- GED or High School Diploma.
- Applicants must be 18 years of age or greater at the time of application and/or resume submission.
- Prior work experience working with young children strongly preferred.
- Basic understanding of childhood development and methods used to instruct children of various ages.
- Must be able to work rotating shift based on Daycare needs/requirements.
- CPR and First Aid Certification or ability to obtain certification within 90 days of start of employment.
- Qualified applicants must undergo and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check to obtain and maintain a valid CRR Day Care & Learning Facility License, subject to biennial renewal.
- Must have a current, valid California Driver’s license.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present effectively to small and large groups of children.
- Strong teaching abilities.
- Ability to be professional and diplomatic with both children and adults.
- Strong organizational, decision-making and conflict resolution skills.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to remain in a stationary position for 50% percent of the time, in addition they should be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The employee in this position frequently communicates with Tribal Government staff, Tribal Council, and the Tribal community—employee must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
Work Environment
Work is performed in a Day Care setting with a moderate to loud noise level, both indoors and outdoors. Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required.
