What are the responsibilities and job description for the Occupational Therapist (Long Term Substitute) position at Chickering Elementary School?
The Dover-Sherborn Public Schools are seeking a Long-Term Substitute Occupational Therapist to support children, staff, and families at the elementary and high school levels, beginning Monday, August 25, 2025, and ending on October 31, 2025. The role would be a 1.0 position to support students in grades K-12.
Potential Flexibility Around Part-Time or Full-Time
The certified Occupational Therapist provides quality school-based occupational therapy services, which include, but are not limited to, assessment and evaluation, intervention and treatment, IEP planning and implementation, discharge planning, related documentation, and communication between teachers, paraprofessionals, related service providers, and families.
Job Responsibilities:
-Develop strength-based, child- and family-centered IEPs/504 plans.
-Conduct assessments, analyze results, and write reports.
-Perform evaluations of mobility, muscle tone, and orthopedic needs.
-Participate in IEP meetings and ensure compliance with all guidelines.
-Maintain accurate records, progress notes, and service logs.
-Educate families on therapy techniques for home use.
-Collaborate with families, teachers, and professionals.
-Use high-expectation, inclusive instructional practices tailored to diverse learners.
-Plan accessible, engaging lessons with clear goals.
-Foster active family involvement in school and classroom.
-Reflect on and improve professional practice through data analysis and collaboration.
