1. Function-Promotes A Positive Professional Environment

Implements activities designed by the lead teacher. She/he is to incorporate planning ideas to promote social, physical, spiritual and intellectual growth of the children under her/his care. Helps oversee personal care, hygiene, learning, and developmental activities. They will help maintain a structural classroom environment. It is imperative that all employees holding classroom teaching positions be mentally and physically fit to perform the duties outlined in the job description.

Education/Experience Requirements

  • Must be age 18 and up with a high school diploma or equivalent and is appropriately qualified for the assigned age group through education, training, experience, and/or personnel qualities according to the State Licensing Requirements.
  • Meets all State qualifications for Classroom teaching positions.
  • Maintains the State Childcare In-service requirements.
  • Displays knowledge and understanding of all current State and Local Regulations.
  • Will need if hired:

Stars number through DCYF- Background check through Department children, youth and family (DCYF). - Tuberculosis (TB) test before able to work with the children. - CPR/First Aid Training (can be supplied if needed) - HIV/Blood Borne Pathogen Training (can be supplied if needed) - Food Handlers Permit (can do online through the Department of Health in Kitsap County)-Proof of MMR

Physical Demands

May be required to lift heavy weight (over 60 lbs), on rare occasions or emergency situations.

  • Required to stand up to 95% of the workday.
  • Must be able to physically interact with the children on the play ground or in the classrooms i.e. run, jump, dance, physical exercise, etc.
  • Must be able to react physically and mentally immediately to a medical emergency or unexpected circumstances.
  • Must be able to stoop, bend and sit on the floor to interact on the children's level.

  • Maintaining a positive attitude. Be a good listener.
  • Use appropriate tone while addressing children and co-workers,
  • Is able to see situations from the children's point of view and share the enjoyment of humorous situations.
  • Include prayer throughout the day with the children, parents and co-workers.
  • Is able to control personal stress level and not let personal stress interfere with duties.
  • Conducts self in a Godly, positive, professional and non-judgmental manner.
  • Is able to work in harmony with staff members and show enthusiasm toward the job.
  • Is able to handle routine situations with good judgment, flexibility and humor.
  • Is able to ask for help and assistance when needed.
  • Keeps lead teacher informed of children's progress.
  • Direct parents to the lead teachers for information about their children.
  • Is flexible to the daily demands of the children including scheduled work hours, room assignment and other staff members.
  • Shows trustworthiness of punctuality and documentation of hours

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.66 - $18.75 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
