Job Overview
The Housing Assistant is responsible for supporting the Property Management Department with field-related tasks. This position is essential in meeting our organization’s mission of providing our clients with stable, safe, and effective housing opportunities.
Job Duties:
- Perform house pre-inspection for HUD in collaboration with the Property Manager.
- Provide the support and paperwork details with HUD and other applications.
- Perform outreach to local landlords and property management agencies to secure appropriate housing as agreed upon in the property management meeting.
- Connect with agencies to assist in resident selection.
- Perform walk-throughs of property prior to a resident moving in.
- Attend Property Management meetings.
- Serve 3-day & 24 hour notices. (Notices for non-payment of rent and/or behavior)
- Support lease signing.
- Support move-ins with Housing Support Coordinators.
- Support the move out process by contacting the appropriate vendors for repairs/cleaning.
- Support in finalizing residents’ security deposit itemization document in a timely manner.
- Support property management department in annual unit inspections.
- Maintain and organize resident key box.
- Oversee the Food Box Program.
- Submitting Furniture Request for new resident and confirming installed prior to lease sign.
- Work independently and productively while still keeping open communication with others.
- Deliver honest and reliable communication with all individuals with whom they interact.
- Effectively manage time to avoid backtracking and delay of tasks.
- Consistently contribute to a safe and positive work environment, abiding by the policies and following procedures at all times.
- Maintain regular attendance and timeliness.
- Perform other duties as assigned or otherwise identified.
Knowledge, Competencies, Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree (preferred)
- AA Degree from an accredited institution (preferred)
- Experience with Housing Community Partners (preferred)
- Experience with vulnerable populations (preferred)
- Current driver’s license in order to drive to locations while on duty (required)
- Ability to build relationships: Establish and maintain positive working relationships with others, both internally and externally, to achieve the goals of the organization. (required)
- General understanding of landlord-tenant law, including proper service of documents. (preferred)
- Knowledge of Sec. 8 rules and requirements. (preferred)
- General knowledge of home inspection and ability to identify home repair needs. (required)
- Proven ability to foster teamwork: Work cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals, resolve problems, and make decisions that enhance organizational effectiveness with an appreciation of CHAT’s unique participatory culture. (required)

Typical Working Environment:
Work is performed primarily indoors. Time is spent split between: (1) office setting with moderate noise levels consistent with a typical office setting; (2) in the field visiting locations, attending meetings and events.
Equipment/Tools used: Computer, Keyboard, Phone, Tablet/iPad, Multifunction Printer/Copier, and other miscellaneous office equipment.
Interaction/Supervision: Interact with all levels of staff, vendors, property managers, vendors and partners. Direct supervision of [Housing Management Supervisor]
Physical Demands:
Constantly (67% ): Talking, hearing, walking on normal surfaces, and using a keyboard.
Frequently (34-66%): Sitting, smelling, repetitive hand motion.

Pay: $24.00 - $27.00 per hour
Expected hours: 25 per week
