The Chieftain Irish Pub and Restaurant is searching for a Kitchen Manager at our South of Market location, 1 block from the Moscone Convention Center. We are in business 20 years, have a solid team in place. As Kitchen Manager you would be in charge of Ordering, Inventory, Specials, day to day operations of the Kitchen/ BOH. We have a General Manager to provide direction as needed.

This is a hands on position, typically Manager would work 3 to 4 shifts per week in the kitchen and the remainder Admin work. Position requires some flexibility. The ideal candidate should have 3 years experience as a Sous Chef, Chef or Kitchen Manager. This position offers added bonus incentives for achieving goals. Kitchen with established team and structure looking for experienced Kitchen Manager/ Sous Chef.

Summary Of Position

Responsible for kitchen functions including preparation and maintenance of quality standards; sanitation and cleanliness; food purchasing, mentoring of small team (8) already trained in standardized methods of cooking, preparation, plate presentation & portioning.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • This is a working hands-on kitchen position in an Irish Pub environment - requires to fill in where needed to ensure guest service standards and efficient operations are met.
  • Ensure that all food and products are consistently prepared and served according to the restaurant’s recipes, portioning, cooking and serving standards.
  • Control food cost and usage by following proper requisition of products from storage areas, product storage procedures, standard recipes and waste control procedures.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 3 years experience in varied kitchen positions including Line Cook, Sous Chef.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly with kitchen/ dining room personnel and guests.
  • Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Be able to work in a standing position for reasonable periods of time.

Compensation: Depending on Experience (DOE).
