What are the responsibilities and job description for the Kitchen Manager/ Sous Chef position at CHIEFTAIN?
The Chieftain Irish Pub and Restaurant is searching for a Kitchen Manager at our South of Market location, 1 block from the Moscone Convention Center. We are in business 20 years, have a solid team in place. As Kitchen Manager you would be in charge of Ordering, Inventory, Specials, day to day operations of the Kitchen/ BOH. We have a General Manager to provide direction as needed.
This is a hands on position, typically Manager would work 3 to 4 shifts per week in the kitchen and the remainder Admin work. Position requires some flexibility. The ideal candidate should have 3 years experience as a Sous Chef, Chef or Kitchen Manager. This position offers added bonus incentives for achieving goals. Duties & Responsibilities
- This is a working hands-on kitchen position in an Irish Pub environment - requires to fill in where needed to ensure guest service standards and efficient operations are met.
- Ensure that all food and products are consistently prepared and served according to the restaurant’s recipes, portioning, cooking and serving standards.
- Control food cost and usage by following proper requisition of products from storage areas, product storage procedures, standard recipes and waste control procedures.
- A minimum of 3 years experience in varied kitchen positions including Line Cook, Sous Chef.
- Must be able to communicate clearly with kitchen/ dining room personnel and guests.
- Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
- Be able to work in a standing position for reasonable periods of time.
