PurposeThe Medical Science Liaison has the primary responsibility of building key opinion leader (KOL) partnerships by engaging in the exchange of scientific data and other medical and / or scientific information with external stakeholders (HCPs, researchers, professional organization leadership, and formulary decision-makers) in the assigned Therapeutic Areas (TAs). Scientific engagements include establishing and maintaining educational and research collaborations; delivery of clinical, scientific, and technical education; building long term peer to peer relationships with key stakeholders by establishing rapport and providing scientific education.

Main ResponsibilitiesExternal Relationship Management & Development :
Build external partnerships with recognized community and academic medical center KOLs to identify and address scientific needs and to stay abreast of current scientific trends in assigned Therapeutic Area.Identify and develop key thought leaders (national, regional, and local) for medical education, clinical research and publication opportunitiesCultivate existing and identify new collaborative KOL relationships for advisory boards, company-sponsored, investigator-initiated research, and speaker developmentProvide field insights gained to field managers and team for elevation within organizationIdentify opportunities and provide medical support including scientific education to healthcare professionals (HCPs) at key institutionsFoster professional relationships in key institutions for Chiesi GRD within an assigned geographyRecognize opportunities to facilitate cross-functional engagement based on customer needsIdentify and characterize need within therapeutic area related to real world evidenceMedical Affairs, Therapeutic Support, & Internal Collaboration :
Represent Chiesi GRD Medical Affairs at national, regional, and local scientific meetingsProvide field-based medical affairs assistance for clinical research initiatives supported by the company, related to Investigator Initiated Trials, or other collaborative initiativesDeliver high-caliber medical education presentations in a variety of settingsGather and disseminate competitive intelligence from multiple sources in accordance with company policiesParticipate and contribute to publication planning, clinical research, medical education material development, as well as internal training initiativesPartner cross-functionally in assigned region, to optimize customer experienceContribute to monthly medical meetings including journal clubs and team meetingsProject Work :
Lead and support internal medical projectsSupport cross-functional projects and streamline medical inputAdministrative Work :
Accurate and timely completion of all administrative reports, projects and required trainingParticipate in continuing education to maintain high level expertise in the assigned therapeutic areasExperience Required3-5 years clinical experience relevant to the Therapeutic Area assigned to the prospective candidate (preferred)Demonstration of proficiency in therapeutic area competenciesExceptional Communication skills are key to success in the role :Highly articulate and persuasive during formal and informal presentations; able to convey complex, scientific ideas fluently to any audienceHas the ability to tactfully provide scientifically sound, constructive feedback to national, regional, local key opinion leaders, and HCPsActively listens to othersAdept at confidently stating expert opinion while respecting the positions of others - can exert diplomacy while standing firm on a positionBuilds and leverages strategic internal and external relationships to identify potential opportunities and partnerships to provide value and improve quality of care for providers and patientsUtilizes effective, professional communications to cultivate strong working relationships with internal and external colleaguesWork effectively on multidisciplinary teams to achieve desired outcomesSkillfully plans, prioritizes, and executes multiple responsibilities with minimal supervision in a highly dynamic work environmentMaintains a positive attitude and demonstrates flexibility during challenging situationsEducationCompletion of a graduate level degree (PharmD., M.D., D.O, PhD, MSN, MS or equivalent healthcare professional degree) as well as relevant clinical experience
