Child Action, Inc. (CAI) is a private, non-profit corporation created in 1976 to promote the education and social welfare of children and families and to advocate on their behalf. Our programs include resource and referral services for families seeking childcare, child care subsidies for qualifying families, recruitment and professional development of the child care workforce, and family education and support.
We are seeking individuals who are highly organized, have the ability to multi-task, provide excellent customer service, have good problem-solving skills and have the ability to understand the problems and issues facing families from a variety of ethnic and economic communities.
Position Purpose & Scope:
Under the supervision of the Human Resources Director, the Human Resources & Admin Assistant is responsible for customer service and personnel record-keeping. The primary duty of this position is to handle various personnel-related administrative tasks and assist the HR team with the onboarding and recruitment processes. The incumbent will work closely with the HR team to maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with federal and state laws, as well as best practices.
Typical Duties:
Human Resources:
- Assist in the recruitment process, including posting job openings, screening resumes, and scheduling interviews.
- Respond to applicants regarding status of their résumés/applications as needed
- Support onboarding processes for new hires, including orientation and training coordination.
- Create and maintain recruitment, onboarding and benefit files
- Maintain employee records and ensure compliance with HR policies and procedures.
- Stay current with recruitment and onboarding trends and recommend enhancements
- Perform pre-employment verification of candidate’s employment history
- Assist employees in employment verification
- Ensure a professional and timely delivery of job offers to the selected candidates
Administrative Support:
- Perform a variety of admin and technical tasks to support HR functions
- Assist in organizing agency events
- Assist in checking HR inbox and direct the emails in the right direction
- Maintain organized filing systems, both digital and physical, for HR documents
- Manage office supplies and equipment, ensuring that resources are readily available
Others:
- Perform any other duties as necessary
