What are the responsibilities and job description for the MDT and Intake Coordinator position at Child Advocacy Center?
The Child Advocacy Center is seeking individuals that are personally and professionally committed to the protection of children. The MDT and Intake Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring seamless coordination and communication among the Multidisciplinary Team MDT involved in child abuse investigations. Central to this role is the screening and coordination of all incoming referrals for services to ensure access to the CAC is prompt and compassionate. A successful MDT & Intake Coordinator is a great communicator who can effectively manage competing priorities, and is solution oriented. This position can work out of our Springfield office or West Plains office.
Essential Functions:
1. Acts as the main point of contact for the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) scheduling:
- Screens and schedules forensic interviews and medical exams as deemed appropriate, according to MDT protocols.
- Assesses the emergent nature of the referral and provides triage in scheduling.
- Ensures availability of forensic interviewers and medical staff for emergency appointments and assigns advocates to work each case.
- When needed, in order to increase parental cooperation and reduce systemic stress, provides brief crisis intervention to ensure families in emergency situations are provided basic service explanations and have all pertinent information prior to initial services.
- Works closely with Child Advocate Supervisor to assign cases to child advocates.
2. Works as part of the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT):
- Works in accordance with CAC protocols, scope of practice, local and national standards, and Missouri statutes.
- Coordinates and participates in MDT/case review meetings to ensure child victims are not lost in the system, assessing case progress and treatment needs of the child and non-offending caregiver.
- Participates, as assigned, in activities that support a coordinated and comprehensive response to meeting crime victims’ needs.
- Fosters an open and positive working relationship with all agencies represented.
3. Engages in high-quality, professional practice reflective of the Child Advocacy Center’s policies and procedures, state and federal statutes, accreditation standards, contractual conditions, and established best practices.
4. Participates in meetings, supervision, professional development, and where appropriate, represents the CAC in task forces and committees.
5. Performs Other Duties:
- Assists with the CAC’s goal to educate the community, as well as MDT members, regarding child abuse and procedures upon sending referrals.
- Testifies in court, if subpoenaed.
- Participates in CAC staff meetings.
- Stays current on relevant issues and performs research through training and reading.
- Performs other duties, as assigned by the Executive Director and Program Manager.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics:
1. General knowledge of child development, child abuse, and complex family dynamics in child abuse.
2. Ability to work effectively in crisis situations.
3. Ability and willingness to work as a team member with CAC staff, volunteers, and MDT members.
4. Ability to communicate effectively with others of various developmental levels.
5. Must be self-motivated with an ability to work independently without a great deal of supervision.
6. Must possess verbal skills necessary to communicate effectively while maintaining composure when working in a stressful, crisis-filled environment.
7. Verbal skills to communicate with the public.
8. Excellent communication, organizational, and negotiation skills are required.
9. Ability to build rapport with children and families and to understand and apply the dynamics of child abuse.
10. Knowledge of law enforcement and the judicial system is preferred.
11. Must demonstrate ability to maintain confidential information.
12. Basic computer skills.
13. Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
14. Ability to function harmoniously in a small but busy workplace as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Required Education/Experience/Training:
1. A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required.
2. Two years of direct work experience with customer service, team facilitation, or collaborative processes is required. A Master’s degree in a human service field will substitute for one year of work experience.

Schedule requires some weekend and on call
