Job Descriptions/Duties
The Director of Finance is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of Child & Adolescent Behavioral Health, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strong financial management. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), this role focuses on financial execution, internal controls, budgeting, and grant management. The Director of Finance works closely with the leadership team to ensure fiscal responsibility and operational efficiency while maintaining alignment with the organization’s mission and goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Management & Reporting
- Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including accounting, payroll, cash management, and grant billing.
- Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements, reconciliations, and reports.
- Collaborate with program managers to monitor budgets and track financial performance.
- Provide financial insights to the COO to support operational decision-making.
- Monitor cash flow and liquidity, ensuring the agency maintains adequate working capital.
- Oversee billing and collections to maximize revenue and reduce outstanding receivables.
- Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with nonprofit financial regulations, including grant reporting, tax fillings, and audits.
- Coordinate annual audits and grant audits, ensuring smooth reporting and compliance.
- Maintain and enforce strong internal controls to prevent errors, fraud, or mismanagement.
- Oversee insurance and financial risk management policies to safeguard organizational assets.
- Budgeting & Grant Management
- Assist in the development and monitoring of the annual budget in collaboration with the COO.
- Ensure grant funds are properly allocated, billed, and reported in compliance with funding agreements.
- Works closely with program managers to ensure their budgets align with service delivery goals.
- Identify financial inefficiencies and propose cost-saving opportunities.
- Process & Technology Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve financial processes to increase efficiency and accuracy.
- Work with the COO to evaluate financial reporting tools and systems.
- Implement best practices in nonprofit financial management to support long-term sustainability.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field (CPA or MBA preferred).
- 5-10 years of financial management experience, preferably in a nonprofit or healthcare setting.
- Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting, including fund accounting and grant compliance.
- Experience managing financial reporting, audits, budgeting, and cash flow.
- Proficiency in financial software and systems, including accounting and electronic health record platforms.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to ensure financial accuracy and compliance.
- Collaborative leadership style-comfortable working with program staff, leadership, and funders.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present financial data to non-financial stakeholders.

Location
We have four locations in Stark County including downtown Canton, Belden Village, Alliance and Plain Township. This position is at the Canton/Shipley office.
Salary Range/Compensation: Will vary based on education, experience, and skills.
Hours: Full-time position. 40 hours/week.
