What are the responsibilities and job description for the Preschool Teacher/ Early Childhood Education - Part Time Afternoons position at Child Care Center in Clemmons, NC?
We are looking for part time teachers from 2:30 PM - 6PM Monday through Friday. We need this teacher to be a floater in the classrooms where needed. The age group this individual would serve will very.
We operate through team teaching within our classrooms. Running and maintaining a classroom is to be a partnership between teachers and all tasks are to be shared throughout the day.
1. Be reliable, punctual, with regular attendance. Consistency for the children is our goal.
2. Cell phones are to be placed out of reach in a teacher cabinet or in your car. Cell phones must be off and not on your person in any way.
3. Morning breaks will be offered as staffing allows. Stay within the break time given, ten minutes unless otherwise specified. You may not leave the premises during this break as you are still on the clock.
4. Full time employees are scheduled for nine hours; this includes a one hour lunch break. During this break you will clock out and may do whatever you wish. Lunch breaks must stay on time in order for all staff to go and return before the children wake from nap. (Generally 12:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.) All staff must be back in their classrooms no later than 2:45 p.m.
5. Teachers must educate themselves and maintain their classrooms appropriately for ITERS (Infant Toddler Environmental Rating Scale) and ECERS (Early Childhood Environmental Rating Scale) standards.
6. Teachers must maintain annual training hours; this is based on work hours, personal education levels and years of experience.
7. Teachers must have knowledge about the growth and development of young children.
8. Teachers must already have or be working towards their Early Childhood Credentials.
9. Teachers must know and follow the Summary of the North Carolina Child Care Law and Rules as provided by The Division of Child Development and Early Education.
10. Teachers must know and follow North Carolina Sanitation Laws.
11. Remain calm in all stressful situations and work as a team to navigate through them.
12. Teachers are to model respectfulness in their interactions with one another. Gossip and negative talk about or to one another is not allowed.
13. Staff meetings are mandatory for full time staff. If you miss a meeting without approval from management, we reserve the right to terminate your position at New Horizons Child Care, Inc.
14. Speak to other teachers or management for tips on challenging behaviors.
15. Teachers are responsible for documenting events that occur in their classrooms. This includes but is not limited to; interactions with parents, interactions with children, challenging behaviors of children, observations of children’s development, and interactions with staff members.
