What are the responsibilities and job description for the Community and Family Resource Specialist position at Child Care Council, Inc.?
Overview
The Family and Community Resource Specialist will serve as a resource for individuals who are seeking care or information regarding the care of young children within the council’s service delivery area and for community organizations, businesses and programs who may require these services on an ongoing or emergency basis.
Responsibilities
- Provide customized referrals to licensed/registered child care programs, camps, and preschool programs.
- Maintain databases and update child care program information.
- Develop and present workshops for parents on a variety of appropriate and interesting topics regarding the care and nurturance of young children.
- Provide information to other Council services and community resources.
- Actively participate in department and organization meetings, events, conferences, and visibility events.
- Assume other duties as needed or required to support the council in its efforts to be the premier resource for child care related services.
- Educate customers about various child care options including licensing requirements, guidelines on how to best select child care, NYS Child Care Regulations, quality indicators and cost of care.
Qualifications
- · BA/BS degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Education, Early Childhood or related field of study, 3 years’ experience working with children and families.
- Cultural sensitivity and understanding of the multi-cultural nature of our customers and staff.
- Clean driving record and regular daily use of a reliable vehicle
- Comfortable interfacing with the community and meeting new people.
- Knowledge of parenting and child development
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of child care system, New York state Regulations and community resources
- Good computer skills
- High quality customer service skills
- Comfortable presenting to groups
