Summary
A summer camp coordinatorplans, organizes, and supervises the summer camp program.They also ensure the safety and well-being of campers and staff.The Child Development Center Summer Camp program has an average of 10-15 staff members and 60-80 school-age children in attendance daily grades rising Kindergarten through rising sixth grade. Begin the planning and staff recruitment process for a successful summer program early. Partner in the interview and onboarding process of seasonal staff. Partner to develop staff, students, activities, and fieldtrips reservations and daily / weekly schedules. Provide proper training and feedback to staff. Plan, implement, schedule, and communicate on-site and off site activities that go with pre-determined weekly themes.
Exhibit and promote a happy, peaceful work environment. Establish and maintain positive rapport with children,parents, staff and church members while maintaining confidentiality.
Exhibit a positive attitude toward new ideas.
Promote team spirit and Christian love while providing customer service.
Professionally represent and promote the Child Development Center and Timberlake Church programs to community, parents, church and other childcare centers.
Duties
- Create an exciting, well-organized, Christ-centered summer program experience for staff and children.
- Program planning : Create and schedule activities, field trips, guest speakers, and special events
- Staff management : Partner with the School Age Leader Executive Director to recruit, hire, and supervise staff, including jr. counselors, and volunteers
- Safety : Ensure safety standards are met, and or exceeded.
- Communication : Interact with parents, staff, children, volunteers, and community partners
- Budgeting : Manage the program budgetand keep spending for summer camp within apredetermined range.
- Discipline : Handle discipline issues and liaise with the School Age Leader
Provide reporting staff with adequate training, feedback, and guidance. Create a weekly staff schedule keeping time off requests and enrollment in mind. Working with Junior Counselors and Counselors in Training to set clear guidelines and expectations while offering feedback throughout programming. Answering phone calls and emails promptly.
