What are the responsibilities and job description for the YCCS Family Support Staff position at Child & Family Services Inc?
Child & Family Services is looking to hire a full-time Family Support Staff. The Family Support Staff works as part of the programs’ treatment team, establishing open and effective communication and support among co-workers.
YCCS (Youth Community Crisis Stabilization) is a short-term residential treatment model for children ages 4-17 in need of acute crisis stabilization. YCCS is a 24 hour programs which is composed of three shifts: 1st (7am- 3pm), 2nd (3-11pm) and 3rd (11p-7am) , including weekends and holidays. There is a $1 differential for 3rd shift or weekend shifts.

HS Diploma/GED $19.00 per hour / Bachelor's Degree $20.50 per hour
$1 per hour Language Differential! (eligible languages include: Cape Verdean Creole, Haitian Creole, Portuguese, Spanish or ASL)
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must have lived, personal experience as a caregiver of youth with special needs, preferably youth with behavioral health needs
- This person must be willing to share their lived experience with purpose and intent to support brief interventions that address a youth’s behavior and safety
Responsibilities:
The following responsibilities are not meant to be all inclusive and may be adjusted to meet the agency’s needs.
- Provide a comfortable youth and family friendly environment conducive to recovery and stabilization
- Ensure every guardian of youth is contacted (within timeframes designated by program specifications)
- Assist in the development of treatment planning that specifies goals and actions to address the medical, social, therapeutic, educational, and other strengths and needs of the youth
- Participate in the development of behavioral plans and crisis/safety plans
- Utilize Massachusetts Behavioral Health Access (MABHA) website to update daily capacity as instructed, use website to locate other services for youth in assisting with aftercare planning
- Assist in responding and facilitating requests for admission and discharge
- Assist in collaborating and coordinating with the youth’s treatment providers
- Attend family therapy sessions, and other meetings as needed to provide support to the youth and family
- Have knowledge of child and family focused community resources in the community
- Exhibit competence in working in partnership with guardians and other caregivers of youth with mental health needs, including success in engaging youth in behavioral health services and assisting youth and families in integrating youth and family voice in decision making about services
- Works effectively and professionally with youths and collaterals, such as family members, state agency personnel, other agencies, and professionals
- Utilize verbal de-escalation skills, planned ignoring, redirection to encourage youth to utilize self-soothing skills and increase ability to self-regulate
- Utilize physical intervention as a last resort and within the agency guidelines. Employee may be required to physically manage youths, if necessary, using methods and techniques approved and certified through the YCCS Program. All YCCS employees need to complete the program’s de-escalation and physical management certification training.
- Work collaboratively within Acute Care Services staff to cross train and provide coverage as needed.
