Child & Family Services is looking to hire 2 Young Adult Peer Mentors (YAPM) for The Beyond House located in New Bedford, MA.

High School/GED - $19.00 per hour
Bachelor's Degree - $20.50 per hour
$1 per hour Language Differential! (eligible languages include: Cape Verdean Creole, Haitian Creole, Portuguese, Spanish or ASL)
Qualifications:
- Bilingual (Haitian Creole/Spanish Needed)
- Minimum of a High School Diploma/GED with lived experience with mental health and/or co-occurring substance use challenge and at least one year of experience working with youth in a professional or non-professional capacity.
- Must complete training in the Six Core Elements of Young Adult Peer
- Mentoring within first six months of hire and will be trained as a Transition to Independence (TIP) Facilitator within the first year.
Responsibilities:
The following responsibilities are not meant to be all inclusive and may be adjusted to meet the agency’s needs.
- Provide assertive outreach in the community to engage young adults (16-21); provide information and linkages to mental health, substance use, primary healthcare, supportive housing, employment, education, social support, and benefits
- Develop, sustain, and coordinate linkages with system partners; link former DYS & DCF alumni youth (under 22) to benefits through DCF/DYS; and support Youth and Young Adult (YYA) voice in other youth serving agencies, schools, alternative schools, and mental health settings in our catchment area and the System of Care and other local and statewide councils
- Work as a team with the Recovery Navigator, Outreach and Engagement Specialist, Program Director, Clinician and Family Partner to meet the co-occurring needs of young adults
- Co-facilitate YYA Advisory Groups and empower participants to take leadership roles
- Attend SOC and other system meetings to infuse YYA voice and perspective. Implement and maintain social marketing and social media engagement with YYA
- Collect data in support of quality improvement and evaluation measures, including but not limited to NOMS collection
- Maintain social marketing strategies developed through the grant. Participate in grant collaboration learning opportunities
- Display strong, non-judgmental listening and active engagement skills with youth.
- Establish trusting relationships with TAY Access Center youth and promote and establish an environment of Mental Health awareness and wellness.
- Maintain awareness of own personal mental health needs, and utilize coping skills and practice self-care
- Engage in weekly clinical meetings with supervisor to prioritize youth served needs and participate and create new learning opportunities
