Position Summary :

The Child and Family Services Residential Program offers a supportive environment for up to 46 children across three specialized programs. Focused on healing and growth, our dedicated staff provides treatment in small-group settings, helping children and families overcome obstacles and address traumatic experiences that have impacted their ability to live at home. Through comprehensive care, treatment, and supervision, we equip children and families with the skills needed for a successful transition, either back to their home or to an alternative living arrangement.

The Residential Case Manager provides leadership, oversight, and support to case planning staff in the residential program to promote more timely and successful discharge planning experiences for youth and families. This position establishes and maintains a collaborative work culture where team members support one another in ensuring that high quality, trauma-informed, and client centered services are delivered on a day-to-day basis while adhering to oversight agency policies, procedures, and regulations. The Residential Case Manager must be able to work a flexible schedule with evening hours when foster parent trainings are scheduled or other recruitment or program events necessitate.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Provide regular supervision, coaching and feedback for direct reports.
  • Provide trauma-informed leadership to the program including the establishment of clear expectations and guidelines to staff and offer supervision and support to reduce the impact of vicarious trauma that comes from working within the child welfare system.
  • Participation in weekly treatment team meetings to collaborate with the team to best meet the needs of the youth we are serving
  • Learn all aspects of program through regular engagement of each team member to understand their work and provide guidance and back up support as needed.
  • Oversee the intake process for the residential program. This also includes reviewing and tracking all residential referrals.
  • Support case planning staff in determining the type of permanency intervention needed for youth.
  • Educate residential case planning staff, youth, families, providers, and strategic partners about the positive impact of Family Finding and / or Wendy’s Wonderful Kids permanency services.
  • Attain proficiency in all program databases and regularly run reports to monitor program data including length of stay, referrals, staff workloads, client roster, and compliance with C FS and oversight agency requirements.
  • Ensure that client services, standards and practices are provided to the satisfaction of all C FS and oversight agency standards.
  • Ensure that all residential case planning staff develop, maintain, and update all required documentation in a timely manner utilizing effective written and oral communication.
  • Model and practice sensitivity, fair treatment, and acceptance of diversity in all interpersonal interactions.
  • Maintain positive relationship with all stakeholders, including parents and foster families.
  • Participate in hiring of personnel and address all personnel issues in a timely manner.
  • While this job description covers many aspects of the role, employees may be required to perform other duties as assigned.

65,520 Minimum pay rate, $77,480 Maximum pay rate, based on experience.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Master’s degree in human services or related field and five (3) years’ experience in child welfare or related field, preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field and five (5) years’ experience in child welfare or related field, required.
  • 2 years’ minimum of supervisory experience required.
  • Special Requirements

  • Unrestricted, valid NYS driver’s license with a clean driving record and minimum insurance coverage that meets agency standards.
  • The agency will provide First Aid / CPR certification, required to obtain within 60 days of hire.
  • The agency will provide TCI certification, required to obtain within 60 days of hire.
  • Specialized training / expertise in trauma informed care.
  • Must complete all onboarding requirements.

  • Must be able to work a variable scheduling including evenings and weekends
  • The following daily physical demands are required :
  • Sitting (up to 6 hours)
  • Occasional standing (up to 2 hour)
  • Occasional walking (up to 2.5 hours)
  • Occasional Driving (up to 4 hours)
  • Occasional balancing, bending, stooping, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, reaching forward or down, reaching overhead, running, and twisting (up to 2.5 hours)
  • Lifting up to 25 lbs.
  • Manual dexterity is required, including the frequent ability to grasp in both hands and continuous use of fine manipulation skills in both hands (approximately 1-2.5 hrs.)
  • Ability to change positions as needed
  • Special Considerations

    Our goal is to maintain a restraint free environment. However, there may be times that staff may be required to physically restrain clients weighing between 50 lbs. and 200 lbs. and guide them safely to the floor. In some circumstances, restraints can last up to 15 minutes and may require repetition as necessary.
