POSITION SUMMARY :
This is a direct service position in Children’s Residential to assist in the planning and implementation of therapeutic activities needed for each during treatment.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES / ACTIVITIES :
- Assists the Recreation Therapist in planning and carrying out the activity program on a daily basis.
- Engages youth in activities following their Individual Support Plan (ISP), reports to the Recreation Therapist to share feedback on each activity.
- Writes observation notes for each activity for the Recreation Therapist to review and file.
- Assists in developing and maintaining good contact with community resources for the betterment of the activities program.
- Responsible for maintaining departmental inventory of equipment and supplies.
- Maintains activity attendance records and prepares other reports as required.
- Maintains an organized activity environment.
- Serve as an appropriate role model by assisting youth and / or families during activities. Role model a trauma informed approach at all times.
- Maintain written reports and documentation as necessary.
- Plan special seasonal events or outings.
- Practice sensitivity and acceptance of diversity.
- Participate in Program Meetings, Staff Meetings and Staff Development Sessions.
- Actively participate in the Child and Family Services QI Initiative.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS :
Competitive Pay Rate of $21.00 - $23.00 per hour
