POSITION SUMMARY

The Counseling Center Clinician is responsible for rendering direct clinical service to clients of the Counseling Center and the Employee Wellness Center using clinical interventions resulting in the achievement of emotional health. This involves psychological assessments, person-centered treatment planning, treatment and discharge plans. Clinicians are responsible for up-to-date EMR documentation in all client files. Referrals come from many different payor sources, including SCCMHA.

This position is salaried exempt.

QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s degree in social work or related field and Michigan licensure at the highest level attainable. Extensive knowledge of individual and family therapy, and experience working with all ages is preferred. Familiarity and/or training in evidence based clinical techniques desired. Clinician should be proficient with computer skills, as EMR work in two different systems will be necessary.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.

a. Counsel clients in overcoming personal challenges, adjustment to life, depression, family stressors, trauma and anxiety.

b. Demonstrate an ability to engage clients in the therapy process; assist with identifying their goals for treatment and successfully support them with obtaining their treatment goals in appropriate time frames.

c. Demonstrate an ability to produce comprehensive psychosocial assessments that recognize and obtain familial, cultural, social, psychological, physical and spiritual factors.

d. Demonstrate an ability to develop and implement treatment plans based on clinical experience, multicultural awareness, socioeconomic status of the client, and knowledge of the client’s strengths, needs, abilities, and preferences.

e. Evaluate the progress of the treatment plan at the end of each session, documenting growth in the treatment note.

f. Formally evaluate the treatment plan with clients on a quarterly basis.

g. Productivity rate per month is based on the accrual of three (3) weeks of vacation, nine (9) sick days and immediate access to three (3) PTO days each year, along with holidays and clinical development. This rate is provided at the onset of employment and reviewed annually during the performance evaluation.

h. Opportunity to earn bonus compensation based upon direct service level achievement.

i. It is an agency expectation that clinicians provide at least 3 hours of clinical service after 5:00 p.m., including at least one evening until 7:00 p.m. Clinicians may construct their own 40-hour work schedule, and may work a four (4) day work week.

j. Keep current with new developments and techniques in the field of mental health through and will maintain compliance with their professional licensure.

k. Adhere to all client confidentiality requirements and standards.

l. Demonstrate an ability to understand personal clinical strengths and weaknesses and seek assistance when needed.

m. Refer clients to community resources, specialists or other clinicians if needs exist outside of their own expertise in light of the person-centered treatment plan.

2. Non-clinical Practice

a. Comply with agency policies and procedures, accreditation standards, Continuing Quality Improvement and Utilization Review Committee recommendations.

b. Complete all required clinical paperwork in a thorough, comprehensive and timely manner.

c. Schedule individual supervision at least monthly taking into account each clinician’s professional development and expertise in the field.

d. Participate in full and clinical staff meetings, trainings, and staff retreats as scheduled.

e. Represent the agency in a positive and professional manner in the community, and within the office setting.

f. Participate in agency sponsored community events and support marketing efforts of the agency as requested and as schedule allows.

g. Other duties as assigned.

Pay: $59,000.00 - $62,000.00 per year
