Job Description
Cultural Broker - Afghan Community - 10-20 hours/week
Would you like to help members of the local Afghan community understand the benefits of mental health support ? You can be an important link between your community and available services.
As the Afghan Cultural Broker, you can help members of your community learn about the benefits of mental health services and help them connect to Child Guidance & Family Solutions for counseling services. You talk with community members to learn about their needs and concerns, and organize refugee community education and engagement activities on the topics of the refugee experience and trauma. You can also help us connect with other community organizations and serve as a bridge between those organizations. In addition, you have the opportunity to co-facilitate skill-based groups for refugees in the schools and in the community.
The Cultural Broker must share the same cultural and linguistic background as the population served and must agree to complete State of Ohio certification for Registered Applicant (RA)/chemical dependency. This position is located in Akron, Ohio.

Requirements:
- High school diploma required; bachelor's degree in mental health or a related field a plus
- Have or ability to obtain an RA/chemical dependency prevention certification (State of Ohio)
- Experience working in the mental health field desired
- Same language and country of origin as the community served
- Good communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills
