Job Title : Lead Early Childhood Education Teacher

Position Summary : This position will support center locations with one or two classrooms
The Lead Early Childhood Education Teacher ensures the smooth operation of assigned classrooms and staff, creating a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment. This role involves curriculum planning, classroom supervision, and collaboration with the Education Manager to meet Head Start Performance Standards and ensure optimal child development outcomes.
Key Responsibilities :
Curriculum and Instruction :
- Plan and implement daily, weekly, and monthly lesson plans that align with the Head Start Early Learning Framework (ELOF).
- Administer developmental screenings (e.g., TSG, ASQ-3, ASQ-SE) and tailor instruction based on assessment results.
- Utilize Creative Curriculum to design age-appropriate activities that foster social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth.
- Model best teaching practices for balanced childhood development.
Classroom and Staff Management :
Oversee teaching staff, volunteers, and classroom operations, including playground supervision and adherence to schedules.Ensure compliance with Texas Child Care Minimum Standards, agency handbooks, and health and safety regulations.Create staff schedules, secure substitutes when necessary, and delegate tasks effectively.Conduct emergency drills and maintain a safe environment.Family and Community Engagement :
Plan and conduct parent meetings and communicate program updates.Partner with Family Advocates to link families to health and social resources, ensuring compliance with EPSDT schedules.Educate parents on safety, health, and nutrition topics and support their participation in Policy Council elections.Compliance and Reporting :
Ensure timely and accurate submission of reports and records, including IEP / IFSP implementation.Collaborate with content area managers to address behavioral, health, or social service concerns.Maintain confidentiality of all program, family, and staff information.Professional Development :
Attend team meetings, pre-service and in-service training, and workshops to enhance skills and stay updated on early childhood trends.Support continuous improvement by seeking feedback and reflecting on practices.Qualifications :
Bachelor's (B.A.) or Associate (A.A.) degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field, with preschool teaching experience.Meets Head Start Teacher qualifications.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and ChildPlus software.Knowledge of Creative Curriculum and best practices in early childhood development.Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate empathy, patience, and professionalism.Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.Valid driver's license, insured vehicle, and willingness to travel as needed.Current CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain).Completion of Child Abuse Mandated Reporter Training (or ability to obtain).Must currently hold a Center Directors qualifications, as required by Texas License.Skills and Competencies :
Expertise in short- and long-term lesson planning.Strong interpersonal skills to build trust with staff, children, and families.Proficient in conflict resolution and team building.Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and prioritize multiple responsibilities.Working Conditions :
Combination of sitting, standing, and walking within the facility.Physical ability to lift up to 25 pounds periodically.In-area travel to other facilities for assistance and screenings.Benefits :
