Job Summary:
For 40 years, Child Lane has been providing early care and education to young children in the Long Beach, San Pedro, and Wilmington communities. At Child Lane, we encourage children to play, explore, build relationships, and develop skills in a safe and nurturing environment. The Human Resources Assistant role will be working at our Administrative Office in Signal Hill, CA.
Under the direct supervision of the Human Resources Manager, the Human Resources Assistant processes payroll and assists with recruitment, benefits administration, and mandatory staff training activities. The schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., or Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Responsibilities:
- Payroll Administration: Process payroll, resolving any payroll-related issues and ensuring accurate and timely submission. Maintain payroll records.
- Recruitment: Recruit and schedule interviews with qualified job applicants for open positions, understanding skills and competencies required for each position.
- Benefits Administration: Coordinate open enrollments, changes, and training for employee benefits programs.
- Training: Review, track, and document compliance with mandatory trainings.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- AA Degree in Human Resources or in a related field
- 2 years of related paid work experience
- Knowledge of Paycom payroll software (preferred)
- Accuracy and attention to detail; analytical and able to identify discrepancies
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task

Physical Requirements:
Must possess mobility to work in child care and office settings and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; strength to lift and carry children or equipment weighing up to 40 pounds; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.
