Job Title: Child Nutrition Secretary
Reports to: Child Nutrition Director
Dept./School: Child Nutrition /Office
Primary Purpose:
Organize and manage the routine work activities of the child nutrition office and provide clerical services to the department head and other staff members. Meet all health codes.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or GED
TASN summer workshop attendance to remain current on policies & procedures
Angelina County Food Handlers Certificate
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Proficient skills in keyboarding, word processing, and file maintenance
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Basic math skills
Ability to use personal computer and software to develop spreadsheets and databases and do word processing
Experience:
School food service knowledge preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Records, Reports, and Correspondence
- Prepare correspondence, forms, reports, etc., for the department head and other department staff members using personal computer.
- Compile pertinent data as needed when preparing various state and local reports.
- Maintain physical and computerized departmental files.
- Maintain employee files with confidentiality as needed.
Accounting
- Perform routine bookkeeping tasks, including simple arithmetic operations, for the department.
- Prepare invoices and communicate payments with Bookkeeper.
- Monitor and process personnel including leave requests and reports; compile information and submit to central office.
Other
- Answer incoming calls, take reliable messages, and route to appropriate staff.
- Receive, sort, and distribute mail and other documents to department staff.
- Adhere to strictly enforced state and federal guidelines regarding processing of free/reduced meal applications and maintain confidentiality of information.
- Fill in at campuses as needed.
- Cashier for breakfast and lunch runs.
- Keep up with commodity inventory and relaying campus to campus needs.
- Upkeep product promotions as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
None.

Personal computer, printer, calculator, copier, and fax machine.
Working Conditions:
This position is classified as Non-Exempt for the purposes of the Fair labor Standards Act, as having a possible occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens; and as Safety Sensitive, the employee will be subject to pre-employment, reasonable suspicion, post-accident, random, return to duty and follow-up drug and alcohol testing.
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Excellent time management. Work with frequent interruptions, maintain emotional control under stress. Repetitive hand motions; prolonged use of computer. Continual standing while cashiering. Frequent stooping, bending, moderate lifting and carrying; moderate exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures.
