The Assistant Director helps with the day-to-day and overall operations of the facility, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines while supporting our mission to enhance learning and development for each child. With guidance from the Director, he or she ensures the staff provides the best possible learning and care experience for the children in our programs, oversees the curriculum, and markets the facility and our programs. Depending on staffing ratios, the Assistant Director may need to function in any capacity within the facility, including filling in as interim director or a classroom teacher or performing administrative duties. He or she must have a good understanding of childcare management and early education.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Helps the Director operate and manage all aspects of the school, including business management, education and continual learning and development, campus environment, and marketing and communications
- Oversees and ensures consistent implementation of the Balanced Learning System for all students enrolled at a Primrose school
- Consistently implements the Primrose Schools’ Continual Learning Plan to prepare and support teaching staff
- Actively develops and maintains positive staff relationships and parent partnerships and manages all resources effectively
- Establishes and maintains respectful working relationships with state licensing authorities
- Attends all required staff meetings, workshops, and/or school functions as determined by the Director
- Observes all rules and regulations pertaining to the health, safety, and care of children
- Maintains a professional personal appearance, attitude, and work behavior at all times
- Performs other duties as assigned
- QUALIFICATIONS
- Must meet all requirements stipulated by the state for this position
- Classroom teaching experience in an accredited early childhood facility a plus
- Some administrative or business experience a plus
- Pleasant/friendly demeanor and an outgoing personality
- Excellent communication, customer service, and problem solving skills, including the ability to maintain composure under stress
- Strong organization skills, able to multi-task, and can manage time to meet frequently changing deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Highly professional and dependable
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and the internet
- Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs. in connection with the handling of children for the facilitation of programs, child safety, and potential emergency situations
