Position Title: Early Learning and Inclusion Assistant
Reports To: Early Learning and Inclusion Specialist (ELIS)
Classification: Exempt
Job Summary:
The Early Learning Inclusion Assistant supports the ELIS as they work with Education team to ensure full implementation of all aspects of Childcare Resources early learning system, policies/procedures, and tools, with the goal of supporting all children to achieve School Readiness Goals.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Support Education Leaders in providing needed documents to work with children who have special education needs.
- Capably assist center staff in implementing early learning curriculum with fidelity.
- Assist ELIS coordinate with the Part C agency and/or LEA, ensure timely identification, referral, identified services and transition support for children with disabilities.
- Contribute to ongoing and regularly scheduled recruitment of children with disabilities.
- Apply expertise in ongoing, performance-based assessment systems to support the center directors and teachers in understanding child outcomes data and using results to plan and individualize instruction.
- Track child outcomes and program quality assessment data across classrooms and centers, analyze data and make program development recommendations based on the analysis.
- Assist education team in planning and implementing comprehensive, differentiated, and sequential professional development for education staff.
- Partners communities with teaching staff to support curriculum planning and implementation as well as child assessment data analysis and application of data to individualized learning plans. o Assist in overseeing implementation of all aspects of education services, providing teachers with coaching, training and monitoring using CLASS, the Teacher Success Rubric and other teaching performance tools. o Work with ELIS to reliably implement, analyze and apply child assessment and learning outcome data; use data to implement individualized learning plans. o Ensure the completion of all required child screenings and assessments, including 45 and 90-day requirements for new children and quarterly progress assessments for all children.

Support for Educational Quality & Positive Child Outcomes
- Supports Education Leaders in coaching related to educational quality including fidelity of curriculum implementation and meeting Childcare Resources Readiness Goals
- Collaboration with ELIS to provide feedback to Teachers and Center Directors in all areas of educational quality, including but not limited to o CLASS o Learning Environments o Curriculum o Assessment o Meeting All Children’s Needs o Working with Families o Professional Growth and Collaboration
- Work with ELIS to create and maintain quality improvement plans; identify and obtain resources to support
Center Directors in successfully executing quality improvement.
- Supports fidelity of implementation, including engagement in curriculum planning meetings
- Supports quality of implementation and use of assessment cycle during assessment workgroups
- Assist in tracking child outcomes and program quality assessment results on a center- and program-wide basis, analyze data and make program development recommendations to the Head Start Director.
- In collaboration with the ELIS, plan and implement comprehensive, differentiated, and sequential professional development for education staff (provide data and individual information regarding assigned centers)
- Participates in leadership activities and meetings as appropriate
- Use the Early Learning Inclusion Specialist Success Rubric (ELIS-SR) to self-assess and set goals for continual growth as an educational leader.
Additional Responsibilities
Communication and Service Coordination
- Participate in team and 1-1 meetings, regularly scheduled, and as needed, to ensure coordination of education services across the Head Start program.
- Communicate effectively in written or verbal format to groups of all sizes and individuals.
- Actively participate in the Head Start community, including staff meetings, mandated training, committee meetings, and other program-wide functions as needed, including some evening activities.
Record Keeping and Reporting
- Assist in maintaining documentation of monitoring, coaching and training activities, adhering to Childcare
Resources existing systems (Master Binders, Shine Insight, etc.) whenever applicable.
- Complete monthly reports on area activities and progress toward goals with recommended modifications to plans, submit to MEL as scheduled.

- Plan and adjust work operations to meet changing or emergent program requirements within available resources and with minimum sacrifice to quantity or quality of work.
Program Governance and Leadership
- Lead for the good of the entire organization, understand the big picture and use it as a framework to make decisions
- Work with the ELIS and Head Start Director to develop and maintain focus for the education service area, align education goals with the strategic direction and needs of the program, and ensure that all education staff understands how their work relates to the program as a whole and the relevant regulations and Performance
Standards.
- Improve quality and effectiveness of the education service area and overall organization by initiating, sponsoring and implementing organizational change and by helping others to successfully manage organizational change.
- Work with ELIS to promote the consistent exchange of information and a cooperative environment within the center director team and other leadership.
- Attend parent committees, Policy Council and board of director meetings as needed or requested.

Job Description

1. Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education OR Associate degree in related field with at least six (6) courses in early childhood education and experience teaching preschool-aged children OR state awarded preschool teaching certification with experience teaching preschool-aged children
2. Previous experience supervising/coaching in an early childhood setting
3. Experience with curriculum model TS Gold and assessment system ASQ-3/SE
4. Reliability in CLASS and ECERS-R a plus and obtain certification in CPR and First Aid
5. Physical exam and background checks are required for this position.
6. Travel required locally or long-distance up to 10% of the time for work-related meetings and functions.
7. Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Knowledge in Special Education/Inclusion
- Knowledge in Head Start
- Bilingual preferred
- Ability to interact effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
- Demonstrated computer literacy skills, using MS Office applications and other basic data systems including internet navigation.

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit most of the time with some bending and reaching.
- Ability to stand, walk, and bend periodically.
- Ability to engage in repetitive movement of wrists, hands, and fingers – typing and/or writing.
- Ability to work frequently at close visual range (i.e. preparing and analyzing data and figures, accounting, transcription, computer terminal, extensive reading).
- Ability to receive and respond to oral communication.
- Ability to lift a child weighing 40 pounds, 20 times a day if needed
- Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
Work Environment:
- Work is generally performed in an office environment.
- Noise level in the work environment is moderate to occasionally loud (examples: business office with computers and printers, light to moderate traffic, human voices).
