Make an Impact as a Quality Initiatives Coach

Texas Rising Star is the quality rating for the state of Texas’ quality rating and improvement system. As the Quality Initiatives Coach, you will serve as part of a team that will plan, schedule, and implement activities to support Texas Rising Star certification and implementation of best practices in early learning programs. As the Quality Initiatives Coach, will provide specific project-based coaching and support via onsite and/or virtual visits.

Responsibilities And Essential Job Functions

  • Works with program staff to create an annual timeline of activities and statement of work to support early learning programs in achieving initial certification and renewal in the Texas Rising Star program as well as implementing industry best practices.
  • Provides specific coaching to early learning program staff according to needs identified by the Texas Rising Star Mentors. May provide support to classroom teachers or administrators.
  • Conducts follow up coaching and observations to early learning program staff after attending professional development sessions to support implementation of new skills and knowledge.
  • Provides coaching to early learning programs participating in special projects such as LENA Grow, technology grants, Wonderschool , Start Early or Infant-Toddler expansion and others as identified. Sets goals for participants and provides coaching to help ensure content knowledge, appropriate use, and successful goal completion.
  • Provides follow up to programs who receive classroom equipment and materials. Ensures proper use of materials and assists with room arrangement as needed.
  • Gathers and tracks data on all projects and reports outcomes.
  • Conducts quarterly surveys on each initiative & monthly professional development.
  • Able to work occasional evenings and weekends, as needed.
  • Able to travel locally to conduct coaching session and follow-ups as needed.
  • This is an in-office position.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education , Child Development, Special Education, Child Psychology, Educational Psychology, Elementary Education, or Family Consumer Science; or
  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 18 credit hours in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Special Education, Child Psychology, Educational Psychology, Elementary Education, or Family Consumer Science with at least 12 credit hours in Child Development; or
  • Minimum of 3 years employment experience in Childcare/Early Childhood setting required, including 2 years of full-time early childhood classroom experience in a Childcare, Early Head Start, or PreK through third grade school program.
  • Experience using assessment tools such as ITERS, ECERS, CLI Engage, and Texas Rising Star preferred.
  • CLASS observer certification in Infant, Toddler, and/or PreK preferred.
  • Knowledge of adult learning styles, how to identify learning styles, strengths, needs, and goals.
  • Knowledge of curricula implementation, i.e., Frog Street Press, The Creative Curriculum, or High Scope preferred.
  • Knowledge of Texas Early Childhood Professional Development System (TECPDS) preferred.
  • Knowledge of Texas Child Care Licensing standards preferred.
  • Experience with and ability to communicate using technology and virtual platforms including Outlook, PowerPoint, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, etc. Skills testing required.
  • Excellent computer and typing skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel. Skills testing required.
  • Ability to learn and us CRM program to document work and data, as well as generate reports.
  • Ability to handle pressure and work in a fast-paced atmosphere.
  • Cheerful outlook, excellent interpersonal, active listening, and communicative skills.
  • Flexible and detail-oriented; ability to resolve complaints and problem solve successfully using resources.
  • Capacity to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously; scheduling flexibility is required.
  • Able to work in a team environment and to be a collaborator; must possess efficient organizational and time management skills.
  • Must promote a positive work environment and have prompt and regular attendance.
  • Must have strong ethics and keep information in a strict and confidential manner.


Equipment

  • Computer, telephone headset, fax, scanner, and general office equipment


Travel and Compliance

  • Minimal travel is required.
  • Must have a valid Texas driver's license.
  • Driving record must comply with CCG's automobile insurance carrier requirements.
  • Must have liability insurance coverage and reliable personal transportation.
  • Ability to travel locally or out of town as required.
  • Mileage reimbursement is offered when applicable.
  • Must successfully meet all compliance background check requirements required for federal funding.

  • Work requires normal physical effort with light lifting of items weighing up to 25 pounds
