General Description
It is the responsibility of the Custodian to provide cleaning and maintenance services as described daily, weekly and/or monthly schedules developed by the Maintenance Coordinator in accordance with the standards of cleanliness and safety described by governmental and agency standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Regularly clean classrooms, offices, bathrooms, entry ways, kitchen meeting rooms and outside areas as daily.
Strip and wax floors according to schedule assigned by supervisor.
Clean carpets as needed.
Clean baseboards, vents, grills, walls, furniture, and windows as needed.
Clean and maintain play areas and other outside areas as needed.
Maintain safety zones around play equipment and perform minor repairs.
Check functioning of heating and air conditioning, plumbing and ventilation systems regularly.
Assist in opening and closing buildings and maintaining the general security of the building as requested.
Assist in requisitioning, inventorying, storing, and distributing supplies and equipment as requested.
Assist with other duties as assigned or required.
Essential Qualifications
Demonstrated ability to organize and implement procedures essential to maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the physical plant.
Willingness to complete Infant/Child or Community CPR course and Red Cross First Aid course within six months of employment.
Demonstrate willingness to actively pursue skill development opportunities.
Demonstrated ability to perform effectively the duties required for the job, including verbal ability to communicate written assignments and physical ability to complete assignments, given accommodation as required by law.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk hear, taste or smell.
