Position Overview: The Behavior Technician will provide direct care to individuals, primarily focusing on supporting youth in achieving their therapeutic and developmental goals. This role involves maintaining a therapeutic environment through trauma-informed care, crisis management, and behavioral interventions. The position requires compassion, creativity, and a commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of each child.
Key Responsibilities:
- Therapeutic Interactions:
- Foster positive, therapeutic relationships with youth, ensuring safety and stability. Apply trauma-informed care and use strength-based approaches in all interactions. Assist children with daily routines, including meals, school, social activities, and personal hygiene as part of their treatment plans.
- Behavior Management:
Implement behavior management strategies and protocols, including individualized crisis intervention plans, to facilitate positive behavioral outcomes. Provide direct supervision during high-risk activities or when 1:1 supervision is required.
- Youth Development & Support:
Assist children with academic support, including homework, social skills development, emotional regulation, and life skills training. Model appropriate behaviors and help guide children in recreational activities and group instruction as outlined in their Individual Treatment Plans (ITP).Ensure the facility is secure and well-maintained. Perform safety checks at regular intervals and participate in maintaining a clean and organized environment. Supervise and assign chores to children, including assistance with laundry and other facility upkeep. Utilize de-escalation techniques and behavioral interventions to effectively manage crisis situations. Maintain documentation of client progress, incidents, and behavioral data in accordance with organizational policies.Collaborate with other staff members, clinical teams, and families to monitor the child’s progress and ensure treatment goals are being met. Attend regular staff meetings, clinical meetings, and family support sessions to contribute to comprehensive care planning. Complete all mandatory training, including crisis intervention, abuse reporting, child care activities, and any other relevant professional development programs. Remain current with required certifications such as CPR, de-escalation, and restraint training.Demonstrate understanding and respect for the cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds of the youth and families served. Provide care in a culturally competent manner, ensuring all children’s needs are addressed. Accurately document client progress, behavioral incidents, and other required reports. Ensure all documentation is up-to-date, compliant with regulations, and submitted in a timely manner.Assist with transporting children to and from activities, as needed. Maintain confidentiality, boundaries and respect client privacy at all times. Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Must have:
- High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
- Must be 21 years or older
- Previous experience working with children or in a behavioral health setting (preferred)
- Ability to lift 100 pounds or more
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and overnight shifts
- Must complete new hire orientation and mandatory training (including C.A.R.E. Training, Human Trafficking Training, Professional Crisis Management)
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Work Schedule Availability:
Fort Lauderdale and Deerfield Beach:
Mon to Fri: 7 am – 4 pm, Full-time and Part-time 3 pm – 10 pm, Sat and Sun: 7 am – 10pm
Salary Range:
$14.00 - $17.00 per hour (based on experience and certifications)
