What are the responsibilities and job description for the Marketing Writer Internship position at Children of the Nations?
Job Description Summary:
You’ll support the mission of Children of the Nations by working the Marketing Department and helping them with any writing-related needs. This could include blog posts, social media posts, email copy, conducting research about the five countries where we serve (Sierra Leone, Malawi, Uganda, the Dominican Republic, and Haiti), communicating with other departments, and other fundraising tasks. You’ll work with other members of the team, learning the specific language and strategies of writing for a nonprofit. Your work will be overseen by Marketing Manager Reanna Pettigrew, and well as Freelance Writer/Editor Kelly Flannery.
Job Description Detail:
- Learn and use donor-centric language, proper grammar, correct spelling, and house style (using the Chicago Manual of Style and COTN’s Editorial Style Guide)
- Write blog posts, social media posts, email copy, and other marketing materials.
- Writing needed materials for JUST IMAGINE fundraising events.
- Help maintain a regular schedule of posting for COTN’s social media channels and blog.
- Gather photos from COTN’s resources to use for marketing materials.
- Communicate with staff members for stories ideas and other marketing needs.
- If schedule allows, join the weekly marketing meetings on Mondays.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong commitment to upholding and supporting COTN’s mission, vision, core values, operating principles, and code of conduct.
- Currently enrolled in college or B.S./B.A. degree or equivalent.
Strong faith and dependence on Jesus Christ. - Demonstrated interest in writing and experience writing at the college level.
Compensation:
- Unpaid internship
- All hours served count as community service hours and can be used to fulfil college credit requirements.
Additional Notes:
- Upon completion of internship, an evaluation will take place on work completed and performance.
- Upon completion of internship, a letter of recommendation may be provided.
